8 stalls coming soon to the Petro-Canada at 301 Southern Yellowhead Hwy, and it could be the first ever Supercharger built on native land in Canada!!

Article copied below:

"Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc hopes to be the inaugural First Nations home to Tesla supercharging stations.

Tk’emlúps business and economic development manager Devin Gambler noted band plans for a grocery store and additional commercial space that could potentially include a gas station and fast food restaurant, all at the southwest corner of Highway 5 and Shuswap Road.

Future development plans include eight Tesla supercharger stalls installed at the existing Petro Canada station across the highway from the grocery store development.

Gambler said the band reached out to the City of Kamloops, after hearing about its plans to encourage electric vehicles, and was connected with Tesla.

Gambler noted Tesla announced last month that it would be opening up its charging stations to all electric vehicles.

Tk’emlúps Kúkpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir said the charging stations are an environmental friendly initiative that supports the greater public. The charging stations are expected to be installed in the spring of 2022."

Nope.

Off the top of my head, Arlington, WA and 29 Palms, CA are both on native lands (casino host property). There could be others that I'm forgetting.
Those aren’t in Canada but it’s an interesting list.

The Catoosa OK charger is on an Indian-run casino property but I’m not sure if the real estate is native owned.

There are also several other casinos in OK that have destination chargers but I know that wasn’t the question.

[I used to live near there.]

This will be a fantastic addition. I more often pass through this part of Kamloops, and I really dislike the existing visitor centre Supercharger - too many bad experiences with the stalls being blocked by jerks waiting for the sani-dump station.

So, did you make that drive and check it out?
Yeah, sorry, drove past there many times and didn't see anything indicating any construction in the Petro Canada parking lot so didn't report.
However, if a new supercharger appears on T'kemlups property I reckon it will appear across the highway from the Petro Can station in the empty lot they are currently developing
