TDLR TABS - Project Details

What: Tesla is proposing to install (12) electric vehicle charging stations in the HEB parking lot.
Address: 25675 Nelson Way, Katy, TX 77494
GPS (guess): 29.774658, -95.821859

Don't focus too much on the late September start date listed in the filing. It's a rough estimate generally submitted prior to applying for building permits, so it's liable to be off by a few months. But I wouldn't be surprised to see construction start before the end of the year.

Good location - just outside the Grand Parkway. The Houston-to-SA route is getting well covered.

Stopped by the HEB and mentioned the above developments to the 1st employee I noticed in slacks. He confirmed there had been talks about the SC and shared HEB was put off that not all EVs could use the charging station.

And that's about all he had to say about that...

It's the ONLY EV company that's creating their own charging stations. And close to $200,000 a pop, these things are not cheap. Besides, when they start seeing all the cool Tesla vehicles, they will change their mind. Especially when the FWD's are opening up on the model X.

The $200k is just the “construction cost” and can be just the electrical cost depending on the required permits, not the complete project CAPEX .

Permits can be based on costar flat fee depending on the jurisdiction.

Maybe they should have just put it at Rudy's barbecue in Katy instead and they wouldn't have to deal with HEB's unhappiness

Supercharger- Richmond, TX

SC'ing at the Rudy's @ 290 / BW8 and ran into corporate folks here. Chatted with them about how Rudy's views the SCs and what other locations are in the pipeline.

...

Asked if the Rudy's in Katy (Mason & I-10) was as well as was told no on account of the location's small parking lot.

Ugh I really need this done with the recent battery capping my car is suffering from. This would make the Aggieland - Katy round trip a breeze. It is getting to be a stretch over the last 6 weeks with my range dropping from 255 to 244 due to software limitations.

I live in katy, to get the city to approve any permits takes 400% longer than any where else you could probably find. took me 4 months to get a permit for my porch. and they are super picky, so one thing could be wrong or they not find "up to code" and they take weeks to get back to you. blame the city not tesla

Staking has been laid out showing the proposed electrical easement, transformer, equipment pad, and 12 charge posts/conduits.

Stakes with blue ribbons are the layout for the equipment and transformer pads. (There are 2 sets of these)

Stakes with the pink ribbons are marking the electrical easement and the charging pedestal locations.

Location of proposed charging pedestals

As is was driving out of the HEB parking lot, I noticed some guys with plans looking over the site and decided to stop and talk. They turned out to be the GC for Leon Springs, Schertz, and Katy...all of which are HEB sites.
