I don’t think it actually makes any logistical sense to put another 40+ stalls here at the same place.
Or, perhaps a set up for the Semi? The existing semis do stop here on occasion. I5 is a major truck route.
Yes, but it could be a mixed site with only the SC’s being listed at this time. Anyway, I am just guessing.Semi megachargers are different to superchargers and wouldn't be listed on the supercharger map.
So Tesla has just updated their coming soon supercharger map for 2021... anyone else curious about the implication of this (a second location in Kettleman City)?
The Coming Soon maps are aspirational, nothing more. In other words, this is what someone in the Supercharger development department wants, at some point in the future, maybe.Or, the left and right hand inside don't know what the other is doing? I've never found those "coming soon" maps to be remotely accurate.
Given that other V2 sites like Salinas and San Luis Obispo have new pins next to them, I am guessing these additional pins are about upgrading V2 to V3. It would make no sense to build another station in Salinas when the current one is rarely near capacity and with more coming up and down 101 nearby. It would make more sense for them to upgrade the 24 V2 stalls at Kettleman to V3 than build an entirely new infrastructure across or down the street. Having said all that, I haven't seen any articles in Teslarati or Electrek about upgrades of V2 to V3.
Last weekend, the coffee bar was open, but the seating areas were not.Anyone know if the lounge is open again?
There are tables outside that should be open.Last weekend, the coffee bar was open, but the seating areas were not.
Sorry, I should have clarified. The interior seating areas are not available. The outside tables are open. They are actually very nice, they have a canopy, and (at least last weekend) there was a pleasant breeze. Mrs. Janus and I enjoyed Taco Bell takeout on those tables, and it was a nice way to pass the time. There are tables outside that should be open.
I believe my last visit was in October or November so a lot may have changed, but IIRC I was directed to the bathrooms out in the parking lot that time. So I was allowed to go in and order coffee, but that was about it on the inside. The good news is, most of the year the weather is nice enough in Kettleman that sitting outside is fairly comfortable.Awesome thanks! Bathrooms open inside?

The in car display ought to more prominently display the door code here, perhaps proactively when plugged in. There was a steady stream of first timers pulling on the lounge door and being confused why it wouldn’t open. I helped three groups out that way.
