Update from 15 minutes ago .. ~ 5:50pm 5/12:

They're still working on wiring (not in pics, but saw on driveby -- a truck on the side / back road and someone working in the big green box). Right now the area is coned off as they're repaving sections of the parking lot.

Saw 4 other Teslas in the 2 minutes I was in the parking lot :)

I was one of those Teslas!! Here are some updated pictures too. I went up to the workers and asked about updates but they said they can't say anything. They did let me take some pictures of the transformer though. 35,000 volts on the left from the primary wires at the closest pole. Then to a bus bar to the pedistal transformers.

Greetings fellow local Tesla owner :)

One thing to add - if you talked to the younger guy working there - he's a big Tesla fanatic, and talked about getting a Tesla as soon as he could. Really cool to see an enthusiast doing the install work too! Hopefully it works out for him!

Depends on which feeder level they took the transformer from, and at this level of KW draw, a higher level feed, if available, makes sense.
PECO offers supply voltages of 13.2kv, 33kv, 69kv, 138kv, and 230kv. So I suspect the 35kv is a typo for 33kv, or a rounding of the person saying it. I'm not surprised about a 33kv feeder for this size transformer as that would be a large number of amps at 13.2kv. (Actually I'm sort of surprised it's not a 69kv feed, so I guess that wasn't available, most of the switchgear I've had to work with in a past life was off 69kv PECO feeders.)

Having said that, I'm sure there are still some weird old one-off's in substations in PECO land, as they still even offer 2 phase power in some places in center city (and I don't me split single phase).

There's a substation next to the transmission lines, at Henderson and Saulin, only about 200 yards away. I don't know much about electrical infrastructure... is that part of the equation when deciding on a charging location? Is that why they can put in 16 charging stations here?

cost of electrical upgrade is absolutely a part of location decision making. they might end up with 3-4-5 viable wawa's or other locations in a small area. if one has easy access to 2mw it gets picked.
