Pretty sure 'The Farm' is not happening.
That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. Sure feels like Tesla is neglecting its Australian customers with no communication and still having to rely upon destination charging for long distance travel to Queensland. Why not dispel the mystery & accelerate sales with some information that surely must be locked in by now? Thanks once again to My Eye Specialist Ballina Day Surgery and Caloundra Local Agent.
I'm guessing Macadamia Castle.
That was my guess months ago, but apparently it is on a part of the highway that has recently been bypassed?
Yes the Maca Castle is a bit off the beaten track since the highway upgrade, about a 5km detour via Tamarind Drive & Hinterland Way. Still possible I guess but it’s definitely not easy to get to like it once was.
Even more reason they (Maca Castle) would be keen to attract some additional visitors to their shop/cafe even if they don't go in to the park itself? They also have space out the front.
Other chargers such as Goulburn are off the main highway (albeit not as far).
The vast majority of people using Superchargers up the coast will be following sat Nav and need to stop so a bit of a detour isn't going to put people off.
I agree. I prefer to be away from petrol stations and eat good food not fast food.
Good food should be a prerequisite. The Maca Castle isn't terrible but nothing like The Farm. Even the take-away is very good & not outrageously priced. Of course, given the assertion of completing Sydney to Brisbane by what is now only 12 weeks away, unfortunately food is probably less of a priority.
I didn't think the Macadamia castle was too far off the bypass, I drove past it during construction and the main cut split a nearby banana plantation in two. I guess it all depends on the exits etc though.
It's not the best location but given The Farm wouldn't come to the table it's the next best.
Sounds like you know a bit more? Tell us your secrets, LGGD
During our meet up there a while back (but after the DA was approved) James from Tesla made it quite clear there were issues with the owners and it wasnt a done deal.
The macadamia castle already has an EV point and a huge solar roof, so the ideology of having a supercharger may fit well with them. The food is okay there, the coffee is good. It is further off the highway, but not by too much - not if there's a supercharger there!

Yes I agree the McCastle is the most logical choice and offers the opportunity to explore the beautiful surrounding area including Bangalow and Newrybar. Incidentally there’ll soon be another top notch restaurant & café across the road from Harvest in Newrybar.
What ColinA said.
Last I heard was that 'The Farm' is for sale. Perhaps that could halt or stall supercharger options? Seems like a logical spot for it though. I saw in the local paper up here this week that the Byron on Byron resort now has 2 tesla chargers too.
It is a convenient location. But, it's not happening.
One of their family members was killed by a tesla driver using ap in amsterdam
Sorry mate but my hilarity detector is on the fritz. Was your comment a joke or is that true ?
If it is true do you have a source ?
