Since there are a bunch of Sheetz locations getting superchargers, I called the one nearest the Tesla Find Us page Coming Soon pin in La Vale, MD and they confirmed that they have superchargers under construction in their parking lot. The person I talked to had no estimate of when they would be operational. The address is in Cumberland but it is on the opposite side of La Vale from Cumberland proper. Good sleuthing! This would have been a very nice supercharger to have on a camping trip we were supposed to take a few weeks ago.
La Vale, MD Interstates: I-68 US Numbered Highways (<=5mi): US-40*, US-220 I-68: From: Morgantown, WV - 71.6 To: End (I-70 near Hancock, MD) - 41.4 miles Diversion: 2 miles From: Start (I-79 near Morgantown, WV) - 72.1 miles To: Falls Creek, PA (I-68,US-230,I-99,PA-350,US-322,PA-970,I-80,US-219) - 144 miles To: Breezewood, PA (I-68,US-220,US-30) - 52.8 miles To: Bloomsburg, PA (I-68,US-230,I-99,I-80) - 196 miles To: Hagerstown, MD (I-68,I-70) - 70.9 miles To: Strasburg, VA (I-68,MD-51/WV-9,WV-29,WV/VA-127,US-522,VA-37,I-81,US-11) - 82.6 miles To: Triadelphia, WV (I-68,US-40,US-119,PA-43,I-70,local) - 128 miles To: Somerset, PA (I-68,MD-546/local,PA-160,local,US-219,BPARS,local) - 40 miles Another nice filler. For example, some routes from the Midwest to Washington DC/Baltimore, MD go through Triadelphia, WV and Hagerstown, MD, passing through La Vale, MD, which would split a near 200 mile gap. Also, it's 122 miles from Bellefonte, PA, so when this is done and Bellefonte, PA's done, it'll open I-99 in PA. * US-40 is concurrent with I-68
La Vallée (sounds better in French ) There are 4 supercharger crates, but only 5 spots at the place where they are digging. Maybe they will put the stalls upfront.
I'll be out that way this weekend. If it is still daylight when I go by I'll stop and take a look. I came through last weekend, but it was dark both nights so I didn't get a chance to stop.
I wasn't able to get any decent pictures on the way through Friday night, hopefully on Sunday the weather will cooperate a little better and I'll gt some pictures. There is a lot of work in progress but the charger is far from done.
Finally able to get my pictures uploaded from Friday night. I wasn't able to stop by on Sunday to get better ones, so figured I would post the ones from Friday.
The site would have a singular transformer, which is not visible. Those two tall white cabinets are power switches, not transformers.
Two of the eight stalls are pull in. Four are reserved and four are 15 minute parking. Still waiting for transformer.
I was there yesterday and the transformer was installed and most cones were gone. There were still cones near the pull-in spots. Didnt take pics though.
