Rockbridge County has issued a permit for a Supercharger at 880 N. Lee Highway, Lexington, Virginia. (link to map). There's an Applebee's, Best Western and a Holiday Inn Express near that address. Lanny
Lexington, VA - Supercharger Where I-64 to WV meets I-81 "Officials in Rockbridge County have issued a permit for the construction of a Tesla Supercharger station near the town of Lexington, Virginia at 880 N. Lee Highway (map)." http://pluginsites.org/tesla-supercharger-to-be-built-in-lexington-va/
Lanny, what would we do without your sleuthinness? Is that even a word? You are a treasured EV resource!
Awesome! Much needed I-81 addition. Let's hope it's a quick build! Keep us upto date. Love to have it up by NYE for a roadie
There's another thread on this, and they win because the Unofficial Standard For Supercharger Thread Names is Supercharger - <Town/City>, <State>.
I was 20 minutes too slow on this as well - but I didn't see the other when I searched before starting this one. I hope the admins merge or delete this soon. My bad.
Wow, so close for me... Probably just a hair short of making it between my house and this charger with 100% charge. Bet I could do it in the summer driving conservatively. Impossible in winter. Either way... I'll take it and I'll go for it anyway and pick up the 20 miles or so at a CHAdeMO or L2 charger just so I don't have to mess with 95 through DC anymore on my NC<->NJ trips. One more dot on this route and we'll be in great shape.
I hope that they can work on this SC and the Wytheville SC concurrently. Maybe Charlottesville to follow??
If I had to guess, I'd say that after bringing up Strasburg, Lexington, and Wytheville in one year, there are unlikely to be any new Virginia SC's in the near future.
Well, they need to do a Bristol, VA (which could be a Bristol, TN or Johnson City, TN) to finish off the southern segment of I-81
What's interesting is that the 2015 map was just updated and most of the "coming soon" superchargers were removed implying they would not come online before the new year. Lexington, VA, however, was one of the very few not removed. Not sure if that is an oversight or if they plan for this to be a really fast build. Supercharger | Tesla Motors
