Supercharger - Mackinaw City, MI

Just went by this weekend. Still looks the same as all the other pictures in this thread, just more Snow.

All 6 destination chargers had green lights. I have not taken delivery of my X yet so no way to test them. But I read on Plugshare they are only 13w........... does anyone know if that's right?

13 kilowatt would be expected, which is just fine for a destination charger. Which would translate to a 60 amp breaker on the back end which is exactly the same as I have at home.

They are installing supercharger (prob complete in the spring) and I believe there are currently destination chargers functioning at the marina.

That’s also the max of any new Tesla since the discontinuation of the Dual Charger (19.2 kW) and High Amperage (17.3 kW) options.

But it is Mackinaw City and Winter, using any of the chargers would be a challenge. All would have required moving Snow to use.

The Model 3 release told me not to pre-reserve as late comers jumped in line before early reservations. The most expensive models went first. There is now more competition and the competition has tax credits that Tesla used to have. Shop and compare.

Shoreline Power Services is the same company that installed the Swartz Creek, MI supercharger. That location took a long time even after it looked like Mackinaw does today.....about 9 months after. I expect they will do much better at this location.

Here is a photo of Swartz Creek location from April 2019. Site didn't open until Jan 2020. Not sure why the long delay at Swartz Creek but hopefully they have the kinks all worked out.

My initial feeling was skepticism, similar to what you stated. But, this time there are pedestals present during initial construction (!!) and hopefully you are right in that Swartz Creek was a teachable moment and they’ll fly right through this and the UP sites

I spoke to one of the Shoreline guys today and he said the pedestals will be wired and the covers installed in the next hour. He also said that the juice should be flowing in the next 2 weeks.

Don’t go scheduling any trips up this way yet. I’ll drive by sometime next week and check the progress.

You can tell it's V3 because there is a coolant pump located in the bottom of each Supercharger stall to run coolant through the thinner cable. That is not present on pre-V3.
