New Madison Supercharger (8 charging stations) planned at Hy-Vee at 3829 East Washington Avenue. https://www.cityofmadison.com/dpced/planning/documents/3801ewa_site.pdf Looking NNW toward the East Washington entrance of the Hy-Vee parking lot (Erik's Bikes is the red & white building on the left).
So, GPS approx 43.118814, -89.318751? 4 mile, 10 minute diversion off I-90. Not perfect, but not horrible. Well, HyVee's a good host. Anyway, Permit Paging @BlueShift.
Actually, closer to 2.5 miles and 5 minutes. There is a (3) station supercharger approximately (1) mile east of this, closer to I-90. Interesting that they did not just expand there.
Given it's a 3 stall site I would assume there was something severely non-optimal about that site to start with, and they just took what they could get at the time.
I was at the three-stall site when it first opened. It's in a busy shopping mall and there seemed nowhere to expand. That worked okay four years ago when there weren't any Tesla in Madison (still, it was a bad place to back in), but is probably insufficient now.
There are 20 parking spots next to the East Towne SuC that are almost never used (they are pretty far away from the mall). My guess is that Hy-Vee was willing to give up the space and the mall was not.
As a Chicago based Badger myself, I think they are anticipating a good football season! I look forward to the increased capacity during football weekends! Thanks for the heads up. M
The plans had 6 stalls, but only 3 were built because the mall had last minute concerns about committing 6 parking spaces. That makes Madison unique in having 3 supercharger cabinets for 3 unpaired stalls.

That location is a little surprising as their don't seem to be easily accessible dining options in the vicinity. I enjoyed (don't judge me!) the easy access to the Buffalo Wild Wings at East Towne mall. It's good they are expanding, though. I'm also a Chicago-based Badger, and on the way back from the game a couple weeks ago, we got the last free stall and the queue quickly built behind us. We drivers were discussing the need for expansion in Madison.
Stumbled upon this info while looking for other Supercharger info: https://www.cityofmadison.com/dpced/planning/documents/3801ewa_site.pdf
