Supercharger - Madras, OR (LIVE Jul 2022, 8 V3 stalls)

Tesla just updated its 2017 "coming soon" map, and low an behold there is now a dot for a supercharger that is located in Madras, OR (which is about an hour drive north of the Bend Supercharger).

Since I am within driving distance, I will keep this thread updated with pictures and other info. While the exact location is still unknown, my guess would be near the fueling station of Safeway.

Was not expecting a location here, but i'll take what I can get!

That would actually be really helpful when driving to Bend from Portland. I hope they do it!

It would be great if they can get it up and running before mid August, as the zone of totality for the August total solar eclipse essentially goes right through Madras.

This is a great idea. Hope one day we'll have access to see how many cars are charging at each station. This will help decide if I need to stop in Bend or Madras.

Any update on this location yet? Can anybody stop by in the near future to take a peak or see if anything has started?

I'm also looking at this as a potential stop for the eclipse!!!

Hi JasonA-EV. Since this post, Tesla has confirmed via their official site that the location is indeed Madras. The site location though is still not confirmed though. However, if I were to guess, I would say the location would be on the north side, near the airport. Currently there is a ton of new construction going on for a large truck stop, fuel center, casino, and shopping area is being constructed:

This would be the only viable area, as Madras does not have a Fred Meyers (only a Safeway with an existing fuel center), and there are no other areas that have parking lots close the size needed to accommodate a supercharger.

I have a project under construction in Bend (from the architect side) and have driven down there a couple times in the last month and have been wondering where the Madras SC may end up. Then wondering if my Model 3 would be delivered while the project is still going on (maybe).
Last trip I stopped for fuel at the gas station next to Sonic in Madras and got out of the car to get my $ while in the middle of an EV conversation with my co-worker. So the two guys working at the gas station joined in and it was interesting that they were on top of what is going on with new EVs and were excited for what changes are inevitably coming (or they are just really good at knowing their audience).

Nope. But there are some Chargepoint chargers going in at the Chamber of Commerce. 4x CHAdeMOs & CSS. Nice if you have the adapter.

I drove down to Smith Rock State Park this weekend and noticed a LARGE Love's gas station/travel plaza currently under construction just south of Madras. I didn't stop, and there didn't seem to be any of the typical visible signs of a Tesla charging station being installed...but there is still A LOT of work to do to complete that station, and plenty of ground still dug up. Maybe this is the location?

If I remember correctly it was just north of where 26 intersects with 97 on the west side of the road.

The parking lot at this one is quite large. It wraps around the entire building, maybe space for semi trucks out back, couldn't quite tell. In the quick glances I got while driving by it looked like there was a lot of utilities/electrical hookups sticking out of the ground that still need to be dealt with. Sort of wishing I would have stopped now so I could have gotten a closer look
