The owner of the Flying J that's the location of the Cisco, TX Supercharger says he's also agreed to install a Supercharger at his location in Midland. Assuming that's the Flying J, the address is: 3302 Garden City Highway Midland, TX US 79706 See Supercharger - Cisco, TX for more info.
I'm familiar with that location. There is a LOT of traffic on I20 that passes right by there. Ironically, a ton of oilfield traffic. I can't wait to use it. I went by Oncor in Midland and they would not allow me to use their charger. I go to the federal courthouse in Midland quite often.
Most of Texas electricity comes from local natural gas, so the oilfield guys should be all in favor of it. At least that's what I tell my O&G clients.
I was born and raised in Midland. Midland is the true heart of the oil business in Texas. Some people consider Telsa and Hybrids like the anti-christ. Especially now with oil prices low and layoffs high, but others are more open minded.
Yes,,,, but west Texas is also a HUGE producer of wind energy. Anyone who drives this area knows it instantly. Windmills have replaced pump jacks for local scenery.
Nothing but giant wind generators around Sweetwater, Abilene, etc. Real renewable energy for the SC's. The owner of those Flying J's is one smart dude. I look forward to eating there while charging, and spending a few extra bucks in the gift shop besides.
Just stopped by the flying Js in Midland... nothing Supercharger related yet I hope this is the spot... it's got some great 24hr food.
Tesla just updated their supercharger map and now has 2017 projections. On the open today map it shows Midland as coming soon. They typically don't do that unless construction has started. It may be time for some of you locals to start scouting it out. Onward to Tucson..
That does appear to be in Midland. I'll get by there next week (hopefully) and check it out. Last time I drove by there was nothing.
Ewww, drive an ICE to check it? Sweetwater is still out of service last I checked, so pretty tough to reach by Tesla. They'll have to be a real local.
Justice Pool is in Andrews... I've got a couple coworkers in Midland... one lives close enough to walk... we'll have eyes on by the end of the year...
I drove around the Flying J on the Garden City Highway in Midland yesterday and didn't see any construction.
Yes, will get by there this evening. It's in a totally different location than we thought it was going to be.
