Location: 16940 Hwy 14 Mojave, CA 93501 http://psbweb.co.kern.ca.us/UtilityPages/Planning/StaffReports/DirectorHearings/StaffReport/2014/12-18-14%20Tesla%20Motors,%20Inc.%20by%20Black%20&%20Veatch.pdf Lots of details in the planning document - 3 superchargers/6 stalls, 200kWh battery storage. I couldn't find a permit on the Kern Co website yet, but it looks like the Planning dept has recommended approval.
Additionally it enhances the winter alternative to the Sacramento > SLC via Northern Nevada which can be wicked in the Cold. --
Great work Yombad! Has anyone seen any evidence of planning docs for the possible Inyokern site just north of Mojave?
I hope to go to the Mojave site and take some "Before" photos. The Staff Report link, above, will not work in my car. Is that designed into the User Interface? I would really like to have the info available when I am looking for the new site. Possibly I could download the info into my laptop and carry it. Any suggestions? Thank you, ~Larry
It looks like the 8 parking spaces right in front of Anthony's Grill are being converted to 6 Supercharger Stalls.
Larry, This link to the planning PDF converted to images should work to view the PDF on the touchscreen. Looks like the spaces are directly in front of Anthony's Grill - not an ideal location for ICEing. http://view.samurajdata.se/psview.php?id=dc3b8eef&page=11&size=full&ori=1
Yes Google Earth views are good. Anthony's must be out of business else they certainly have given up much to EV parking (and I wonder what might be going in that building). I'll try to get out there Wednesday and explore. . I e-mailed Mojave Chamber of Commerce yesterday, told them I was pleased with the project. ~Larry
I too like the location in Mojave, great for bypassing LA traffic. However, those parking spaces don't make a lot of sense.
Except that the yellow pin is located where the mechanical and electrical systems are going. The spots directly in front of Anthony's are where the Supercharging spots will actually be located.
Real estate is so incredibly cheap in Mojave, Tesla could have bought their own plot of land and then had 100% control over ICING! The units in this complex rent at $1/sq ft/month. If Anthony's is empty, Tesla could go into some food/retail or whatever for only $1,000/ mo rent.
Most every eating establishment I have been to in Mojave is horrible. I hope Anthony's will be the exception.
Will be nice not to have to detour to Tejon Ranch enroute to Vegas from N. California. Harris Ranch to Barstow direct is very difficult with the elevation gain - I've done the reverse and didn't have much range to spare (6 miles rated, I think), despite a full charge at Barstow and driving near the speed limit to Harris Ranch in my P85 (and the advantage of a net drop in elevation of nearly 2000'). Putting a Supercharger on Hwy 99 at about Visalia will allow travel on Hwy 99 as well - 150 miles from Manteca, 140 from Mojave or 106 to Tejon Ranch.
I haven't tried them, but Anthony's is open for business. Guessing they're happy to have first crack at Tesla travelers. Food options in Mojave are certainly limited. Anthony's has good reviews online.
Why in Inyokern needed? It's only 113 miles from Mojave to Lone Pine, and 142 miles from Barstow to Lone Pine.
