They took down most of the signs that designate the lot as "Tesla Only". There is still one up in between the chargers, as well as the free standing one at the entrance, but all the signs across from the chargers are gone. I was there today for a charge, dinner, and tree lighting festivities. The non charger spots were ICE'd and security was not doing anything about it.

My car finished charging and I got the notice on my phone that idle fees had started because it was very full. Unfortunately I couldn't unplug and pull into one of the non-charger spots so I had to leave the property vs stay and enjoy the events.

That doesn't surprise me, given the low amounts of Tesla traffic I've observed since this location has opened. Most of them come for charging, not shopping, so having the entire lot designated as Tesla only is a pretty big waste of expensive real estate. Perhaps as Teslas become more prevalent, they will bring back the "Tesla Only" signs.

Today most of the charger spots were in use. National Harbor will have to figure out some kind of balance. I had paid for parking and was there for dinner. But when car was done charging, I had to either leave the lot (even though I had already paid to park), or stay and pay extra in Idle Fees. Decided to leave dinner early and skip the events.

Reports like these should go to National Harbor management and Tesla. If you're staying for dinner or a show, re-parking in a different lot after charging is definitely inconvenient.

You went for the craziness of the tree lighting, I saw the traffic on my way home. Definitely not worth it, if National Harbor ever plans on having decent public transportation maybe then it should become a destination for such activities.

I was highly disappointed when I saw the location of the Superchargers and the whole paying scheme. They already have plenty of lots for that. It would have been a lot more convenient for drivers to put the chargers in the empty space by the McDonalds. Sure not as many options to entertain while charging but most of us want to just charge and go.

Exactly! They could have supplemented the existing Blink stations (rather slow 4 kW) with wall connectors for destination charging for those who want to spend time lodging/dining/entertaining and done similarly at the casino. No snow and hot sun to deal with.

It's now $5 per hour for parking, getting better and better. o_O

Clearly, this wasn't thought through very well. The only scenario where I can envision someone intentionally parking there is when they had already planned a 30-60 minute dining or shopping trip (because longer than that they will have to pay again for another parking place).

The full page at Tesla Lot

makes two inconsistent statements

"A vehicle can be parked in the lot for up to 24 hours"
and

"Daily Parking:
Two Hour maximum stay with flat rate of $5."

TESLA LOT

137 National Plaza, Oxon Hill, MD 20745

The Tesla lot is a 26 space lot with 12 Tesla Supercharging stations. This lot is exclusively for Tesla vehicles only. For each charging station there is a dedicated parking space with a “Tesla Vehicles Only” sign posted. There are two handicap spaces, and a complimentary Vacuum and Air machine.

All Vehicles must pay for parking prior to charging their vehicles at the supercharging stations. Customers must pay and display their receipts on the dashboard to show that they have paid. A vehicle can be parked in the lot for up to 24 hours. The lot is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Daily Parking:
Two Hour maximum stay with flat rate of $5.

I've charged there twice in the last few months. Both times around 2-3 AM. Both times there was another Tesla parked in a charging spot unattended and possibly overnight. I parked and charged for an hour or so without paying. There was a sign stating parking lot was closed except for charging.

I am getting 67 Kw for the second time in a row at National Harbor, previous supercharger was at Potomac Mills without an issue and FREE
