It appears that a Tesla Supercharger site is under construction at the Target in Newnan GA at: 555 Bullsboro Dr Newnan, GA 30265 Of course this is one of the many Targets that were listed as possible Tesla SC sites, but construction has now actually started, and a local owner visited and confirmed that it's Tesla. Release the hounds!
YAY! This is the one I've been waiting on.....will come in so handy for return trips from the FL panhandle/AL coast.
I agree that folks in the suburbs, like us, with L2 charging at home don't need these superchargers, but there are always locals in apartments or other situations not conducive to home charging. I live next door to the new Peachtree Corners SC but have not used it. I make the drive Gwinnett <-> Gulf Shores AL often. This charger would give me the option of bypassing Auburn on the way home. More options is always better. I would still like to see a SC in Montgomery, though.

We live close to the Acworth Supercharger, only charged there when we had a 3 day power outage and wanted to be safe. Typically people rarely charge at nearby Superchargers. The Newman location will allow more through traffic to avoid Atlantic Station and Lenox.
We have 3 tesla wall connectors and a 14-50 at home. If it was right on my way home from work, I’d probably stop for 10 mins on the way home. It’s still to far out of the way even though I have free supercharging for a year on my 3.
Urban SCs are usually put in ......well....Urban areas like Lenox Mall in Atlanta where people are shopping or other time consuming events and not on a driving routes.
[edge case]My parking spot is almost as close horizontally to a SC as my condo is close vertically. So I can't "home" charge, but at least the SC is convent.
Agree! This is why I am excited about it. I hate making that long trip off-highway back to the Auburn Superchargers.
The new Newnan SC will be handy for me also as I make trips from Stone Mtn/Lilburn --Gwinnett to Panama City-Beach area detouring to heavy use Auburn SC. This detour adds 1hr to a 5:15 hr trip. The proposed Dothan SC, which I could have used ,never materialized and was removed recently. In the distant past when I used my ICE I stoped in Newnan at Chick fillet or Sprayberry's BBQ so this new Newnan SC stop will be sorta dejavu. Lately I have explored the Electrify America CHAdeMO charger in Chipley FL
Newnan is a great add but still difficult to go 216 miles from Newnan to Marianna FL once that is finished for alot of folks, especially Atlanta residents trying to make it to Gulf Coast
Recently after using EA CHAdeMO in Chipley FL they sent me an e-mail survey and I indicated to them that EA dispensers in Columbus GA or Phenix City would be great for the Atlanta to Gulf Coast FL Panhandle area route uping the rate to 100KW.
The Dothan, AL (which I'm waiting for) is still on the Tesla Coming Soon list. Now with a "Target opening in 2022" listing.
You can forget about the Sprayberry's BBQ as that location closed down. Wish they had built this in a not so congested area.
Agreed, It seems like if we had SC in Columbus GA and Dothan AL that would help quite a bit. I don't travel to that coast (I head to the Georgia and South Carolina coast), that being said Georgia has come along way in the last 18 months or so with Acworth, Metter v3 locations and with Hardeville South Carolina and Hilton Head Island i'm set
