So the transformer went up at the North Bergen Starbucks site:
As mentioned before, there are actually two Supercharger sites in very close proximity to each other. I haven't checked the status of the transformer for the other location, but I'm assuming they're both meant to open at the same time.
Here are some detailed specifics for the two locations (GPS coordinates are in parentheses):
Starbucks Parking (40.77386, -74.03814): This location has 8 stalls and is the most convenient, located immediately after the Kennedy Boulevard exit on NJ Route 495. The entrance is after the Super 8 hotel; look for the combined Aldi/Crunch Fitness/Starbucks sign.

ShopRite Parking (40.77540, -74.03473): This location has 12 stalls and is a bit harder to get to. I'm listing location as ShopRite Parking, because that's the most notable location in front of the site, but this entire shopping area is actually called Columbia Park Center. Other stores here currently include Big Lots, Old Navy, Party City, and GameStop.

Both locations combine to a total of 20 stalls. The most important detail for anyone planning on relying on these is knowing how to get from the Starbucks Parking location to the ShopRite Parking one, because the Starbucks site will likely be the one most often filled with cars. There are a number of ways around, with the most common Google Maps suggestion being to head into the roundabout between Kennedy Blvd and Route 495, exit north into Kennedy Blvd, and then take a U-turn at the McDonalds at 32nd street.
All methods will likely involve some traffic congestion from the Lincoln Tunnel, which is common for all the local roads in this area. But the following method might often be the fastest, and it doesn't show on any apps:

Take the north exit out of the Starbucks, but don't head back into the left ramp towards the roundabout and the Lincoln Tunnel. Instead, go up 30th street and turn left on Kennedy Blvd. Then turn left again on the next traffic light on 31st street and head down the ramp. There will be a lower level entrance to the parking lot at Columbia Park Center on the right. Once inside, head straight to the other side of the parking lot, where you will find a ramp that goes to the upper level. You should see the Supercharger site on the left hand side once you're at the top.
