As posted on the supercharge.info forum by a new user "Jay" - Supercharger - Ozark, AR, US

There is a Supercharger under construction near the junction of I-40 and AR-23. As of August 14, a section of the parking lot for the Workman’s Travel Center was fenced off near the east side of the building, and some concrete formwork and buried conduit was present. Several crates of Tesla equipment were within the fenced area. I did not take any pictures or hang around long enough to estimate the number of stalls as there was at least one person working on the site and I did not want to bother them.

The location is 35.5238 N, 93.8636 W.

However I'd like to get some confirmation before putting it on supercharge.info. Any locals want to drive by, or give them a call?

Green dot is where it would be relative to existing superchargers - distances are 145 mi to Catoosa, 85 mi to Lowell, 126 mi to Little Rock.

In the Lowell thread I think, the travel center’s owners confirmed the station would get Superchargers by the end of the year. Even when I talked to them, they said the same. With knowledge of this, I’d say the source is very credible

This matches previous information from the Lowell, AR supercharger thread, where an employee said that the owners of the Workman's Travel Center owned another one on I-40 near Clarksville, AR and that they would also be putting in superchargers there in the fall of this year. Subsequent comments identified it as actually being in Ozark and not Clarksville.

I just left the Travel center and I was talking to the employees. There is 8 stalls with the parking spots on each side of the chargers. That is why they are so close to each other. She said that they were told that it will take 15 minutes to charge a car and that they will be ready in about three weeks. She said she believe the owner was going to have them at another location that they have in Clarksville, Ar. next. So I am thinking that this might be business owners asking for them instead of Tesla just finding spots. She said that she will text me with more details tomorrow about them. I have a picture showing everything attached. The eighth stall is on the side but she is not sure if it is being relocated or if that is perminent.View attachment 505860

There doesn't appear to be another Workman's Travel Center in Clarksville *but* there is one in Ozark, which is an interesting concept. Tesla could consolidate the planned Clarksville and Ft. Smith locations into this single stop. Distance is 225 from Ozark to OKC charger and keeps the spot directly on I-40. Will be fun to see how things shape up over the next few months.

Received an email response from Taylor Workman concerning the Ozark location. He said “Yes coming this fall!”

This would make another supercharger in Checotah seem likely as it splits the distance between Ozark and OKC well. Since I've been driving Teslas for 4 years, it's been a long time since I've driven this section of interstate. I don't really remember anything about Checotah (always seemed to stop somewhere in the Fort Smith area), but hopefully there are some potential host businesses. I suppose Warner or Henryetta are also possibilities, but Warner is even smaller than Checotah and the distance from Ozark to Henryetta seems a bit too far. I suppose another possibility is to put superchargers in both Alma (or Fort Smith) and Henryetta. Hard to imagine them putting another supercharger just 25-40 miles down the road from Ozark though.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to finally getting the interstate system completed. Only a few small holes remain!

I live in Clarksville. It’s a quick drive to Ozark to grab these pics for you. One of the pictures I took shows the Interstate 40 in it from where the chargers are located, no zoom.

Clarksville is currently working to bring a Tesla Service Center to it with an emphasis on Tesla Semis(due to having a Walmart Grocery DC that supplies food to ALL of Arkansas and parts of the states around it, 3 different Tyson plants, the last Hanes Brand Inc. manufacturing warehouse in the USA).

I was going to make a similar comment, but @bkp_duke said it with more eloquence than I ever could. :D I too have been watching that frustrating I-40 gap for ages, and while I've never taken Second Childhood (the name of my Model S) on that particular route, I have with gas burners and I hope to take 2C that way someday.

Is it weird for this news to make my spine tingle and my eyes well up?

At last, another Arkansas Supercharger that makes some progress towards completing I-40.
After this, only 2 more Superchargers would be needed reduce the maximum gap to less than 150 miles.

When the first Supercharger was being installed at the Workman's in Lowell it was leaked that all three Workman's locations would be getting them. Now that the second Workman's SC is being installed it brings up the debate if the third location, on I-49 at Rudy exit 5 miles north of I-40 and 25 miles from Ozark, will also get one. I would have preferred the Rudy location over the Ozark location for my travels between NWA and Dallas but concede the Ozark location fills the I-40 hole better.

Agree. Happy for everyone traveling along I-40 but still leaves a big hole for us going south <-> NWA. Keeping my fingers crossed for all three Workman locations getting SC eventually.

This just ticked #3 on my SC want list. We used to live in OK.
#1 was North Dakota as my husband does contract work for the state of ND.
#2 will take a lot longer--there are NO SC's in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! The towns have no recent updates nor do the Meijer locations; the permit is active--just no activity! It would be fun and breathtaking to make the Lake Michigan Circle tour but significant range anxiety and expensive without a SC in Escanaba. Mackinac City got one in June which lets you tiptoe for a while into the UP. Mackinaw Island and the UP should be on bucket lists; 148 of Michigan's 150 waterfalls are in the UP.
