They started digging! I just spoke to the guys on site..they advised me it will be a total of 14 superchargers and 6 spares whatever that means. They said it's going to take a couple months and should be done early spring. So stoked! :D
Perhaps it's something like Carlsbad, where they initially built with 20 chargers but had conduit infrastructure in place for an additional 6 chargers (which they added shortly after).

Tesla may be "testing the water" in Palmdale with 14 initial chargers, then if things get busy quickly, they can add 6 more with minimal construction disturbance.

Thank you for the clarification. Makes more sense now!

CONFIRMED - Tesla Supercharger under construction at the Antelope Valley Mall!

I called a fellow named Scott, who is the general manager of the AV Mall and he did confirm that the new construction underway near the Yard House, between Macy's and Dillard's is the new Supercharger station, which is planned to open in March. There will be 24 eventually. Here are photos I shot today. Woohoo!

I am excited that the final supercharger that would make my life easier is being built! I really wanted one on the route between the two Thousand Oaks supercharger locations and WSIR. The Santa Clarita one is not a convenient detour when towing.

Sweet will be done in 2 months? Can't wait. We shop local in Palmdale and Lancaster weekly. This will be just as close as the Mojave SC.

With better restaurants than Mojave. Been there, done that. LOL

We use to love and eat at Hibachi Grill Buffet all the time. Now they have degraded a lot and we don't even bother. Their crab legs are so small that is not worth the effort and the food just not as fresh or tasty but they do have lot more restaurant there in the AV Mall thou.
