Found a permit for the Payson Supercharger. Permit # PY1803-037 applied for 3/19/2018.

Lists the address as 201 N. Beeline Hwy.

Seems to be the NW corner of Hwy 260 and 87.

It's not totally clear to me who the host business is. Permit says "Payson Village" but if you google that you don't really get much. Maybe it's a new development being built on that site. Anyways, assuming the address is accurate, it's about as good a location as you could hope for. Many fast food places and a couple other restaurants within walking distance. And some marginal shopping. Going from memory the drive thrus at the Del Taco and McDonald's are open 24 hours and they are right near by.

The only other decent location would have been the casino which is always good for 24/7 food and bathrooms, but there's nothing else within walking distance other than the Sonic which isn't 24 hours.

Correction, this is on the North East corner. So most of the food should be in the same parking lot. The actual address comes up near the DMV location.

Regarding bathrooms, I'm surprised Tesla isn't opting for something onsite. On a recent trip to New Zealand I encountered portable bathrooms. Not port-a-potties, but actual restrooms in a single wide trailer. Takes up basically 1 parking spot, has seperate mens and womens areas, water and lights. I'm not saying this is needed everywhere, but some areas come to mind (Holbrook) where there is very limited options after hours. Maybe keypad access with code on our screens?

I am INCREDIBLY excited about this supercharger. I've been checking almost every day for the 3.5 years I've owned my car. I will finally be able to make trips from Phoenix to Greer without having to go through Holbrook.

Here's hoping this one gets finished quickly.

How long does it normally take to build a supercharger?

My guess is 2 to 3 months.

Well, construction has to start first. But before that, you have to get a crew there. And before that, you have to get it on the schedule. Before that, the city has to approve the permit. And there's probably a thousand steps scattered in between all those steps....

Oh I see. For some reason I ended up at 201 S Beeline Highway on google maps, but it's actually 201 N Beeline Highway. That location makes more sense as there's much more space there.

Also from looking at Google, it looks like the Starbucks has moved from Safeway to Bashas' which is on the supercharger side of the intersection so that is good. I'm not a huge fan of grocery store Starbucks locations, but there's really no other decent option in this town. When I lived there a few years ago, there was an awful Christian coffee shop and an ice cream parlor near the movie theater that served espresso drinks. The latter turned out to be the best option for me even though it was pretty goofy. Neither of those were anywhere near walking distance of the supercharger location so grocery store Starbucks will be the way to go for this supercharger site.

A Supercharger in Payson is fantastic. The timing of its opening (for summer) is important, but also we hope that consideration of the many of us who drag trailers up there, and beyond, often with horses, is also very important. The Model X can do this superbly. But it is very important to try to get some Trailer Friendly superchargers. They have permitted a supercharger in Payson now, and it would be wonderful for us "trailer" people to be able not have to block roads, or worse, block more than the charger we are using to charge without having to unhitch the trailer. Unhitching a horse trailer is extremely inconvenient at best, and actually dangerous in a commercial location. One must unload the horses, find a suitable place to tie/confine them, unhitch the trailer, charge, hitch trailer and then re-load the horses. Thirty minutes stretches to more than an hour. Having horses out of the trailer in this environment is potentially unsafe both for the horses and people around them (a horse does seem to draw young kids). All that is needed is to have at least one stall that is drive thorough.

The address on the application (201 N Beeline) is on the NORTHEAST corner of the busy intersection of Highways 87 and 260.

I am familiar with the area. Chapman Payson Auto Center (essentially a big lot with lots of cars) is right on the corner at 100 N Beeline highway. Just north of that is Colonial Cabinets & Millworks at 202 N Beeline Highway. It looks like Tesla must have purchased/leased a piece of land near these two. If you look at Google maps you can see there is no obvious parcel right between the two.....maybe a small piece of the auto center lot will be carved out for SCs?

Just FYI, there are no super close public bathrooms or food places without crossing the highway (crosswalk at the 87 & 260 Highway intersection). Subway, Carl's Jr., grocery store, mcDonalds, etc. are all on the WEST side of the road. There is a Walgreens (100 S. Beeline) across the street just SOUTH of the auto center and a Del Taco adjacent to it. El Rancho, a popular local Mexican restaurant is just south of that.

PS the McDonalds is open 24 hours

I think you're a little mixed up. The Northeast corner has Carl's Jr, Subway, Taco Bell, and Bashas.

Killface, you are absolutely right. My bad - I totally flipped the sides, even with rereading before I hit the “submit” button. The car lot, millworks, SC site, Walgreens, etc. are on the WEST side of the highway. The fast food places, bathrooms, grocery stores, etc. are on the EAST side.
(I did get the reference to what is SOUTH of the site right, ugh!)

Carl's Jr. has hosted superchargers at other locations such as Quartzsite, so my guess is it will be the de facto host location. The permit has a Beeline Highway address (north/south) while all of the businesses on that NE side of the intersection have Highway 260 (east/west) addresses so it's hard to pinpoint exactly where it will be, but that is my best guess. If you zoom in on Google Maps, there is an erroneously placed "Arby's" pin and I think that is roughly where it will go. There is a "Starbuck's" pin where the actual Arby's is. I think the actual Starbuck's is inside the Bashas' so not sure why those got all screwed up, but unless there has been a LOT of businesses moving around in Payson in the last year or so those are incorrectly labeled.

Honestly, I’m just thankful this was not cut out of the budget or set for next year like it has in the past.

Now, start your bets and post your completion date guesses. Mine is June 30th, IF they break ground in the next two weeks. Anyone else?
