Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - East Camelback Road

It looks like as-is the canopy will cover maybe 10 spots? I wonder if that's just the first of many? Ideally, they could solar shade most of that entire lot back there which is relatively huge, probably over 100 spots?. It would be a welcome addition to ALL users, not just Tesla people as a shaded spot is gold in the AZ summer. I'm guessing to actually offset 100% of the electric for a 20 stall SC you would need to cover quite a large area. But does the added construction/solar panel cost pencil for Tesla?

What an absolutely awesome idea to cover THE ENTIRE LOT with solar panels as a corporate good will gesture even though the generated power would be used for the supercharger station. The gesture of good will would be noticed by all and would set an excellent example.
... as you said..... especially here in Phoenix metro during the hot, hot summer months.

Please forward your idea to Tesla! What a great way to partner with the owners of Tesla supercharger sites!

Looking great! They are making great progress.

Urban style chargers going in.

No battery packs at this site.

We are still awaiting the transformer.

Great looking Urban Supercharger Site.

As the sun moves higher in the sky as spring and summer approach, all of the charging stalls should be covered in shade.

note: shade area today 3/11/18. .. about noon time.

SRP work near current transformer may have been to add a junction box. (I’m not sure if it was there before). :::: see photos from the top of the parking garage:::: some SRP activity moved toward the Superchargers.

....as constructed it is 12 stalls.

No transformer as of 3/20 (pad empty)

Shade? ... well, at 3pm it looks like the western supercharging stalls will have direct sun until the parking garage shades them.

It’s only March, so maybe by May shade patterns will be different.

*Status update*:

Ate dinner in the area tonight and swung by to see the progress. A crew of about 6 or 7 were working on the transformer and other miscellaneous things around the supercharger. I asked if it was close and one of the guys said "it's just about done, we're wrapping up commissioning". Exciting times!

Oh man, drove past it with my new 3 earlier today about 1pm, there was a blue S parked sideways, so I figured it wasn't on yet... or maybe it was? Should have investigated, but I was late on the way to meet a friend for lunch...but who cares about friends when there's a new SC in town??
That sideways Model S was most certainly the Tesla tech testing the superchargers.

I'm here and plugged in right now. I guess I'm #2 (ish).
