Supercharger - Piedmont, SC

Copy of the permit is below. It was just signed yesterday. The gentlemen who signed it owns an electrical business and his Linkedin says they do Tesla installs. I also asked for the site plan as the permit doesn't give much info other than it is confirmed a Tesla charging station, but they said they are large files and they could not provide. So I will just keep checking in over the next few weeks as I drive by that exit every day to/from work.

8 charging stations confirmed per Anderson County permit office.

Ok I think I'm done with the legwork now! Will update with pics over the next few weeks once construction begins.

Awesome, and much needed for the I-85 corridor between Atlanta and Charlotte. I still want ones in Spartanburg, Gaffney, and Gastonia as well, but I'll take this for now.

I wish Tesla would sign a deal with QuikTrip to add more Superchargers at their locations, just like Sheetz and Wawa have up here in the DMV area, but we shall see.

Check out supercharge.info that is basically the clearinghouse/repository for community knowledge on supercharger development work. Once someone finds and shares permit/planning info it gets listed there very quickly. So, if it's not on the map there, then no one has found it yet.

I don't see a separate thread for Gastonia, so probably not. Tesla estimates completion in Q4 2022 so maybe the permit hasn't been issued yet.

Things are moving quickly. The light pole has been moved and the stalls are up. I’m assuming like most other installs the transformer and the meter are what is going to take the longest time at the end.

Interesting layout with two perpendicular stalls. I’m assuming the ground dictated this as they are clearly not pull in spots for a trailer.

I’ll continue to stop by every couple days as this is literally on my way to and from work every day. Just a quick on an off ramp from the interstate.

Mulch is in and looks like a lot of the wiring has been done. Still need to do pavement and then of course wait for the transformer and meter.

Went by Sunday evening...nothing really new. I think I will wait until Friday to go back this week to give some more time to get major things done like paving, final wiring of everything, transformer (maybe), etc.

Oh also was going to mention that new DC "fast" charger site just down the road has had zero movement. Everything still in the big plywood boxes, nothing going on.

I was by there a few weeks ago and saw this truck. I guess they are installing the chargers? Might be worth a call.

Maybe. Just a bunch of tall plywood boxes there as of yesterday. Nothing roped off or any signs of imminent construction.

No problem. It's literally just the other side of the same interstate exit at a different gas station (2501 River Rd vs 2401 River Rd).

I'll keep an eye out on both sites going forward too.
