went by today and it looks exactly the same as a few weeks ago. no workers, no activity. not sure what the hold up is.
More images. We are so close. I tried plugging in but only got "Check Charger" message. Arggh.
Hopefully, only a few more days and we can eat Double-Double Animal Style from the In-n-Out across the street, or chicken sandwiches from the Chic-fil-a behind In-n-out while charging. Decisions, decision, ... .

Oh, that is interesting. I don't claim to have seen all of the layouts super chargers may have but this is the first one I have seen with the boost / buck transformers on top of the charging cabinets. Definitely takes less ground space this way.
That second set of cabinets near the superchargers are the switchgear, which is basically the industrial equivalent of your main breaker panel at home. It houses the fuses, switches, and disconnects. The smaller boxes that Jerry was talking about are autotransformers. They are used to buck (lower) or boost (raise) the voltage by a small amount (and hence sometimes called buck/boost transformers). They basically help Tesla keep the line voltage within the limits that the supercharger cabinets like best.I have to ask, what is a boost/buck transformer? And there is a another series of power cabinets next to the other cabinets. Maybe PG&E equipment?

It's less common to see the autotransformers stacked on top of the supercharger cabinets like that, but it's certainly not unique. I've seen it in pictures from a handful of different sites across the country. Sometimes they are mounted on a H-frame structure. But most often they are on the ground on a separate part of the concrete equipment pad, sometimes next to the switchgear and sometimes next to the supercharger cabinets.Cool! Where are they normally? In the switching cabinets?
