On November 1:
... I am still predicting the 15th ish [of November] :)

Well, I'd guessed the 15th of December, so your estimate was closer than mine — but just barely! I'm glad.

I also see that the Primm S/C is listed the in-car nav now, so it must be up and running now. Perhaps I'll stop by sometime this weekend for an official snapshot.

I was annoyed it took that long. I was actually calling NVenergy to see what the install date was and then I logged in and it shows it live. If I wasn't already charged for the night I would go right now. LOL Just remember - I got first on plug in (even though it was dead!) HAHA

We charged there this morning at around 11 am. Traffic from Vegas to Primm was terrible. People were driving on the shoulder to get around the traffic and a police officer was nabbing them and writing tickets by the bucketload. 4a and 4b had the plugs disabled by zip ties, but the the other six bays were working.

I was really looking forward to testing this site out. Unfortunately, the traffic was so insane that I had to skip it. It took me 2 hours to go 35 miles! I had a full charge and made it to Barstow with 55 to spare.

I saw all the shoulder drivers, and was so tempted to be one of those d**kheads too, but resisted. I was jealous of the AWD's that made a run through the desert.

Someday there will be a lane added from primm to barstow. Ask the California casino industry why there isn't one now. We were driving from utah to Las Vegas today and the freeway signs advised taking 95 to 40 through needles as a detour because of the cluster from Jean. I've never understood why more people don't do that.

From the post Nov 24th, were the two Parking Lot Street Lamps ever installed at the Prim, NV site?
Any news in the wind about a Solar Canopy for Barstow?

I was at Barstow 1 week ago. No evidence of any solar canopy work. The footing is a lot beefier than appears in these photos. Surprisingly, I did not see any conduit running to the footing (though I did not check both footings). Perhaps that will be run later, when it can be inspected at the time of installation.

In the photo above left from Prim, NV, the lamp pole footing has four 5/8" bolts and a conduit in the center for the lamp wiring. I was curious if the two parking lot street lamps ever got installed at Prim.

In the photo above right from Barstow, CA, is the very large footing with ten 1" bolts. There was no conduit or wiring when the photo was taken about a month ago.
Based on your observation last week, it sounds like nothing has happened in Barstow yet, concerning a solar/canopy or some sort of shade awning. The mystery continues... Thanks.

There is no conduit, because we are all wrong. It is not for a solar canopy, but is the anchor point for Elon's Space Elevator.

IMO despite the fact that the footings in Barstow are the largest we’ve seen; they are still woefully undersized to support a Space Elevator. For example; a few thousand years ago when the Mayan Aztecs won the bid for a Spaceport, the anchor point was totally inadequate, and when the (conductive) Space Elevator Tether touched down and hit ground, the arc and subsequent ionizing plasma discharge obliterated everything… barely leaving any trace of the project, bar some large stone structures.
Nikola Tesla’s Wardenclyffe Tower was well anchored with heavy conductors distributed radially deep into the ground. Never fully tested, we’ll never know if it could take and hold the discharge of a Tethered Touchdown.

I imagine that it would take a humungous footing and capacitive bank to make contact, hold, and maintain such a Space Elevator Tether. Perhaps millions and millions of receptor cells. Probably a place big enough to hold a Giga or so of battery cells should do the trick.
