Photo from David Miller. A new Supercharger is under construction in Reno Nevada at the Eldorado Casino (303 N Sierra St.Reno, NV 89503) . The number of stalls is unknown at the moment, and there is no Tesla hardware onsite yet. Will update Supercharge Info, unless someone beats me to it. @MorrisonHiker @HAL8950

Project Description: "TESLA AT ELDORADO
CHARGING STATION. INSTALL EV CHARGING STATION TO INCLUDE UTILITY TRANSFORMER, SWITCHGEAR, (10) CHARGE CABINETS, (20) CHARGE POTS, (10) LEVEL 3, (10) LEVEL 2."

There's some sort of error in the description. It's unclear whether there will be 10 or 20 (Urban) supercharger stalls. Either the number of cabinets is wrong or the numbers of the various types of posts is wrong.

It also lists the address for the lot as 375 N. Sierra St. (which google maps pins in a better spot than the 303 number).

Yeah, it’s definitely the number of L3 ports they got wrong. 10 cabinets for 20 stations would mean it’s V2. With almost all new regular Superchargers being V3, this is probably an urban one, unless the planning date was earlier than 2019. Also, this station doesnt look like it has anything less than 10 stalls.

I wonder if this location will have a solar array, like Vegas...

This'll be interesting to watch, as we pass through Reno often on our way between CA and UT. The existing Reno Supercharger is too far off of I-80 to be convenient, but this location could give more flexibility or choices with Truckee and Lovelock. But if it's urban 72 kW, I'll probably skip it most of the time.

I'm puzzled as to why you would skip it just because it is a 72kW charger. I'm wondering if you realize that even at a much larger SC you'll "average" about that amount or less for "most" of a full charge. Your experience might be different. For me, I notice getting high rates for a relatively short time at most SCs before it starts dropping to 80 ish or less. No it is not the temperatures, etc. Been my experience on both Teslas going across the country. With all the new Teslas on the road, I almost always have to share a sport with a version 2 charger that claims getting up to 150kW, but in reality I get half that amount when someone is charging next to me. So for me, not really that much difference that I don't bypass urban chargers.

Your points are well taken. Right now, it’s easy to get from Truckee to Lovelock or vice versa, so I don’t really need Reno. I rarely share a circuit at either Truckee or Lovelock, so it’s easy to get 100+ kW. But if one of them were impacted, you bet I’d take 72 in Reno!

I find that urban chargers seem to work great for the very reasons you state. With the games, YouTube, Netflix, etc., the car is usually ready before I am anyway. Not sharing and knowing what to expect if there's an open spot is a big plus when driving in highly populated Tesla locations. I'm hoping they put several more free destination L2 Tesla chargers in along with these. I don't mind picking up a few free electrons when eating or catching a show in Eldorado. My biggest concern at this location will be ICEing unless they plan to strictly enforce parking restrictions. During large events in town, it's not uncommon for that garage and areas around it to quickly fill up.

It would be sort of pointless up here since electricity is flat rate all day long at 9 cents kWh for everyone.
Frankly I have never understood the point of putting panels at superchargers anyway since the amount of electricity they product is peanuts compared to what cars draw from a site.

Just FYI, you can get a special electric vehicle rate in your home in Nevada: NV Energy

Looks like there will be 10 spots along Sierra St edge of the parking lot assuming the diagonal trench portion of the lot stays as handicap parking.View attachment 475720 View attachment 475719
Must have just missed you there. We were eating at the buffet that they provide free for veterans on Veterans Day and we plugged in the Tesla destination charger while eating. Added 47 miles and full stomach all for free. That is the same view we had walking back to our car.

Living here, I may never use this supercharger but I'm sure happy to see it going in. The surge in Teslas in this town has exploded as rightly it should since 7-10k jobs or more are directly and indirectly thanks to Tesla and that doesn't include all the additional revenue brought in from the purchases from local retailers such as grocery stores, restaurants, etc. The tourism industry won't be hurt by having more charging options for owners of Teslas visiting or passing through our area. If it turns out to be the newer V3 superchargers, I may give it a try just to experience the higher speed charge for myself.

Cocoaloco on Discord believes these will be v3 Superchargers after talking to someone there. I'm guessing the Superchargers will be along the north edge as there's markers for 1A 1B 1C 1D and repeat for 2A-2D on 8 of the 12 north "behind" chargers while nothing marked for the 2 corner "side" chargers and nothing for the 6 east "behind" stalls either.

Interesting! In addition to the eight with 1A-1D and 2A-2D, there are four other bases to the left of 1A, and they are smaller rectangles than the others, and appear to have smaller conduit. I would wildly guess they may be Destination Charging stations.

Oh good point! Other than those 4 with "more-square" bases, the rest seem to be the same size, so potentially 16 v3 Superchargers? The 2 corner "side" chargers are definitely positioned for Tesla's driver-side charging ports, and as you noticed, the larger conduits are also present on the east stalls too.
