Supercharger - Reno, NV

Is there a public accessible supercharger at the GF? A Reno one would be good. While I have not tried it yet I suspect the Truckee ones could get overwhelmed during ski season at the end of the day. Since I just need to recharge after climbing the Sierra's to go east, Reno might be better. Once you get over Donner pass it pretty much a free ride into Reno.

I haven't heard that the gigafactory supercharger is publicly accessible, and so have been assuming that it is not.

I've seen numerous posts of people being turned away by security when they go to look not in a Tesla (model 3 reservation holders).

I'm guessing the odds are you'd get turned away even in a Model S.

You might slip in if they were doing a tour or meeting that day and expected visitors but that'd be one in a thousand or worse odds.

This looks to be near where Atlantis had 2 destination chargers in the parking lot across the Street from the hotel. It's a bit of a detour off of 80 to get there.
I was going to use the destination chargers last year during hot august nights. The lot was blocked for the week for car displays. I hope they come up with a way to access them then otherwise they will be out of service for that week.

Wow, they have construction times down to 24 hours. Thats quite impressive!
My fault for letting this one slip by. Until Feb. I was in that parking lot every day but Atlantis kind of discouraged me from gambling there, so I hardly ever go any more. Out of town right now, but I'll check it out when I get back.

By Sierra Marketplace, turn right after passing Atlantis's circle drive.

This location is about 70 miles north of the Topaz Lake (Gardnerville) Supercharger. It also provides access to and from South Shore for those taking US50. It allows transit over the Sierra on SR88 and SR4 (when open) without going out of one's way or charging for several hours at a destination charger.

I really do not think it is designed for east-west traveling along interstate 80, although it is convenient one is stopping in Reno.

Perhaps this is a harbinger of also opening a Supercharger in Susanville.

Well my host told me that my wife and I were "too lucky" and not losing enough. So they cut us off from all promotional offers and free play. We most certainly were losing but I guess not enough in their minds. I tried appealing to the CEO by email who is a fellow Model S owner and received no response.
Interesting. I know someone locally who had a similar situation at a casino owned by Atlantis. I've been told that to get into casino management, your IQ must be double digits. :)

Makes sense, if it doesn't show up on the in-car map.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla opens a small "visitor centre" area at the GF in the future, but that's for later on.. :)
Perhaps the forthcoming Reno-Sparks Service Center at the Gigafactory site will have public Superchargers. Currently the Service Center exists as a temporary facility in Sparks that is a shop only, without an area for customers; they have to pick up and drop off customer cars.

I doubt they would have a service center at the Gigafactory. It's too far from Reno and I don't think they would want the customer traffic at the factory.
