Eight Urban Superchargers on top floor of garage at Route 1 and Woodberry St. where @CHRGIT spotted a Miss Utility ticket on Feb. 27. Maryland Superchargers As reported by Julie H.D., construction appears complete but power is not on yet. Google Maps
Eight urban stalls on the upper deck, two are marked as 30-minute general parking. Transformer pad by the entrance is still under construction, however the Supercharger cabinets, autotransformers, and switch gear is already installed at the lower deck. At 10 pm on a Sunday night the overhead garage lights are off, it's a bit dark, sorry for the photo quality.
That whole upper deck would be awesome for a solar PV canopy, akin to what was put up at Pike & Rose. It is hot up there in the summer. Just sayin'...
A garage that turns off the lights at night? Nice! I'm actually in support of that, since too many places leave the lights on at all hours, wasting energy and creating light pollution. If it's a safety concern, perhaps they can put them on motion sensors.
Yeah, the lights at the lower deck were still on afterhours as light pollution is not as much of a concern there, safety is.
The transformer pad is complete, no wiring nor transformer inside yet. The new structure creates a huge blind spot when exiting on the right, beware of traffic and the occasional pedestrian.
No changes, other than the appearance of a lone traffic cone to guard the stalls Still some wiring to be done at the autotransformers. This is the first setup I have seen that tight where the autotransformers ride atop the Supercharger cabinets.
Passing by the location earlier today. Still not open. Wonder any source of information about the openning date? Would be really convenient to have my car charge here while do some shopping at the whole foods nearby.
Why do people do that? It just contaminates the database and someone has to go around and clean up after them. I fixed the name, but a PlugShare moderator will need to replace or combine this listing when the location actually goes live.
I went by Monday and the garage levels above 2 were ropes off. So no chance at going up to check the status. Didn’t take the elevator and figured it was best to leave.
Wiring at the Supercharger cabinets appears complete, still no transformer. The overhead lights at the stalls on a Friday night at 23:00 are on (well 2 out of 3 anyway) and appear to be motion-activated in stages. The cone is still there guarding the empty stalls. In terms of other infrastructure the garage is rather interesting, it has a heated concrete and a gas detector right next to the Supercharger cabinets on the lower level.
Good news/ bad news. I ran into Mr. Kemp, from the Annapolis Supercharger. Apparently he did this one and the one up in Baltimore, in addition to Annapolis. Baltimore opened quickly and Annapolis took forever. He was again changing the “warning” signs on the cabinets at Annapolis. He said Riverdale Park should be opening “soon”, but wasn’t more specific.
Still no transformer. One of the stalls appears “disassembled” with the shell and parts scattered about, likely vandalism. It looks neat on the inside, not as neat when functional though.
An updates on this? I'll be parked at UMD for a week, and doing some driving around the Washington area.... it'll be nice to have access to this.
