Supercharger - Robertsdale, AL

According to a local involved in the Tesla Owners Club of Alabama on Facebook, the Supercharger to be installed at the existing Buc-ee's in Robertsdale is on the Planning Commission agenda for today (1/24/22). The location is here.

Fingers crossed as this would be a big help to Tesla Baldwin County and beach traffic.

Splitter! On I-10.
That's the 87th largest remaining gap on the Interstates*, and will help avoid the inconvenient diversion to v2 Mobile, AL.

I'm happy to see the Buc-ee's installations moving along. Why they waited so long to start them is a real head scratcher. I can't think of a better road stop than Buc-ee's for a 30 minute break. Food, restrooms, shopping, open 24 hours, clean. About time.

For those of you in Baldwin County or traveling that way, I noticed on plugshare that a local utility in Foley has added a chademo compatible charger. It might be a good stop gap until this supercharger opens, assuming you have the adapter.

Nice! I travel to Foley often, and this has always been a bad spot. Either I spend a long time topping off to 100% at the slower charger in Greenville, or I just charge enough to get to Foley and then I have to find somewhere to plug in there. The super folks at Benson Appliance, on the main drag in Foley, have a free destination charger. But I always feel obligated to charge off-hours so I don't hog the space for their customers.

The Buc-ee's is insanely crowded on holiday weekends in the summer.

Is there anybody close enough to take pictures of the progress? I understand the Buc-ee's is relatively new. There sure appears to be plenty of space for 12 charging stalls and possibly more if usage time warrants it.
I stopped there this morning. No sign of any pending construction. It's Q2, so it may be a while.

Fence is up at the Southeast corner of the property. Some digging started with conduit & wire on site. No Tesla equipment yet.
