I guess I'll add this link to my daily routine! It should distract me from looking up my proposed Model X delivery date...

As a general note, unless the supercharger is going to be placed on city property, e.g. a city owned parking garage, it would be unusual for the city council to be involved in the process. You might get lucky and it gets a brief mention in someone's report on development activity or a "green" projects update, but otherwise you shouldn't expect anything from the city council minutes. A better place to keep an eye on would be the planning board/commission or any zoning boards.

Well, it is getting near to the end of Q3. I sent an email to Michelle Knight the Community Development Specialist for the City of Rochelle. She did provide a brief reply. A bit of a good news/bad news thing. I guess I might need more resourceful folks to help uncover the details here!

Here is her reply:

To my knowledge, a permit has been issued but the project has not yet been started. In the future, for any additional information, you would need to fill out a FOIA through the City Clerks office.

Thank you,

Michelle

Moderator note: This plus the following four posts were moved from the "Supercharger - Rockford, IL (McFarland Rd.)" thread.

Interestingly, this appears to be an installation using two of the new Pre-fabricated SuC modules. I see no other reason for keeping the Charge cabinets separated.

@MarcoRP @mociaf9 Tesla's find us map shows Rochelle, IL Q4-2021. Any chance either of you dig into permitting for a location? 1st. option, If I had to guess, would be in the area of I-39 and IL-38 lots of service facilities there. Option 2 would be I-88 & IL-251 (Love's)

I do nationwide permit searches every quarter and every map update. If nothing has been found this far, it is because there is nothing publicly available, or the info is not easy to find.

If anyone is willing to scout out the area, I believe the Supercharger is under construction due to an invoice related to the build issued last month. If not, someone can contact the city's building department and ask for information.

I will be driving past Rochelle multiple times in the next couple months for holiday activities. Will try and do some looking around time permitting.

I agree that the best course of action would be a field trip to scout out the location. I drove by on I-88 last week, but I wasn't able to see the area by Love's to rule it out.

Ok, I made a trip to Rochelle. It was inconclusive at best. It was dark and I didn't have a lot of time. It is possible that I just missed the obvious in the dark.

First the bad news:
I could find no definitive work site at Love's on the south side, or either of the truck stops on the east side.

Then the middle of the road news:

There were a bunch of stakes in the ground immediately north of Casey's. Not sure if this is our spot, or Casey's just expanding their footprint here. (Pictures attached)

Then the strange news:

I stopped by the new L2 charger downtown. There was a bunch of new electrical infrastructure in the lot, but not near what a supercharger would require.

This may take some phone calls/emails to get to the bottom of this mystery. I wonder why this site is shrouded in so much secrecy?
