Supercharger - San Carlos, CA (LIVE 30 Jun 2018, 19 Urban stalls)

I live right down the street ... I've seen this construction for some time now ... at least 3-4 months ... had no clue it was a super charger station. Funny thing is, just down the street, maybe 1/2 mile ... the old and now closed Crunch Gym is going to be a Tesla Sales and Service Center - which will also have SuperChargers - at least as I recalled from the Redwood City permits and city council notes.

Also note, durning peak retail hours - this shopping center is SUPER busy. The ingress/egress into the parking lot can be slow. Also note, the 24 hour fitness down the street - many of the gym members park across the street, and dart to their cars in the dark, across Industrial Rd ... so be careful.

Wing Stop is open till midnight ... Chipotle is open to 10 or 11, Starbucks closes early ... all the retail is done by ~9pm-ish most days.

Upcoming Redwood City service center already being discussed here: Possible Redwood City Service Center and (maybe) Supercharger. I didn't see any signs of publicly-accessible Superchargers, but if you have evidence to the contrary, please add to the discussion in that thread.

Also from the first post, we have already noted that San Carlos Marketplace is super busy.

Drove by today. Fence was knocked down by wind.

Looks like all of the stalls and cabinets are up. The trenches are still open and dirt still in piles. But looking good. I counted 10 cabinets and 19 stalls (maybe 20, but I counted like 3 times). The fencing is pretty hard to see through and there are very few gaps, so I just drove over to the parking lot of the plaza next door (other side of the fence) and was able to get a clear view of everything.

I’ll stop by sometime soon, but the East Palo Alto site had its 1.5 mw transformer placed, and there was another transformer on the delivery truck. Crew said they were installing that transformer today as well, and traffic control guy said it was this location, but they were unsure.

Transformer placement and secondary cables taking place concurrently, but nothing being connected up yet.

I have to agree with what some others have posted here. This location is great geographically, but it's going to be a small nightmare during busy times at the shopping complex (weekends, weekdays drom 11-14), evenings. There is one single lane road in and 1.5 roads out. The entrance and primary exit often are backed up over a block north and south just to get into the lot.

People drive around this lot like they are blind and with several odd one way sections many people either get confused by them or take advantage of them - only to confuse and impact other drivers/parkers.

I really wish they had somehow put this SC on the OTHER side of the fence and made a pass through to the shopping complex. The retail on the other side of the fence sees nowhere near the same amount of traffic volume and all the food court isn't there.

It might be the case that nobody ends up going to this one, so it might be a positive if you can go off hours or deal with the 5-10 minutes it can take just to get to it from Industrial during peak hours.

I'd love to go during off hours and spend 20-30 minutes browsing or shopping in Best Buy, so for me at least it could be a decent monthly/quarterly charging spot.

Drove by this afternoon and nothing new from the pics already posted. Agreed that it was a bit of a nightmare entering/exiting the lot. I was exiting from the one-way (behind the Chipotle and GameStop) and four cars attempted to turn into the exiting lane as I was waiting to turn.

Stopped by here today.. might be coming up soon. There were about 10 guys working there, and 2 of them were just sweeping up like last minute stuff..

I didn't count it (it's probably listed somewhere) but this is going to be a LARGE supercharger station. probably what 20 outlets?

Pics for the cleaner charging area. Also the light poles are now there but not installed. I did find an uncompleted charging pedestal, perhaps the 20th spot? It's in the middle-ish. Also the main transformer is not locked, more work still needs to be done it seems.
