I was there yesterday. Buddy of mine brought his MS by also.
Ten cars total.

I am heading to SD on Friday. I could potentially make it from LA and back to San Clemente on a single charge, but will likely not have enough to drive around while there for 2 days. So, I will probably stop here on the way down and get a slow charge given that I will have a decent charge already. That should give me a buffer to make it back. If not, I will charge at the expensive Blink near my hotel ($2/hr)

I just realized that if I intend to use this supercharger tomorrow, that also happens to be Black Friday. Culver City mall is massively overwhelmed with traffic that day, making the location practically inaccessible. Does anyone here have any knowledge on what it might be like here tomorrow?

Charged there this morning around 11am. When I left LA at 9:30, the display said 3 cars charging. By the time I arrived, there were 7 cars there. We walked around the mall for a bit, and when we left at 11:30, there were 15 cars charging.

Parking at this mall is extremely generous. Most of the lots were close to empty.

for everyone's awareness: they close the garage and the gate that provides immediate access to the chargers at night.
I freaked out, having arrived with 7 miles.
There is a number on the gate to security you can call.
He'll just tell you to drive to other end of the property and come around the back to the chargers.

I ended up crusing by tonight with 25 miles left from LAX on the way home to SAN and didn’t read any of these posts prior. I turned into the south area and was greeted with a closed parking garage gate as well as closed gates on the road area in the Mall. Didn’t bother and just gunned it back north to SJC in a small panick / sweat. I plugged in and got 92kW but had two transient individuals starring at me. They came and went for a few pass throughs and saw that they had setup camp underneath the awning of the Union Bank. I did not feel comfortable at all and would / will avoid this SpC in the future.

On the way to SJC, I called Tesla Roadside and the Service Rep pulled up notes on PlugShare about calling the guard up and that our display should have a phone number available. It does not. It also mentioned about driving along the north side and around the back. This all took place around 1AM. This is my first SpC experience.

Yeah, it’s still a bit frontier land being an EV owner, even in so. Cal. Obviously Tesla needs to be a better job at getting information out, but they do try their best. Reading TMC helps a lot, but it is a significant time investment. Your next Supercharger experience should be better!

That totally sucks that you had to suffer through that experience. I find it more interesting that Tesla employees have to search PlugShare for the answer, instead of having it themselves. I recommend that you call Tesla again, during the daytime, and explain to them what happened and suggest they create improved signage or messaging on the in-dash display.

Also, FWIW, SJC is a lovely area during the daytime. A notoriously horribly place to charge due to over-crowding, but lovely town.

Here is the official follow up from the Tesla Roadside Support Specialist.

Gate access to the property is closed from 12AM to 5AM every day, but still accessible to Tesla owners 24/7if they call the property security phone number listed at the gate entrance. Property Security Phone #: 949-378-8293

Supposedly this phone number should be on the supercharger info on our Nav Screen.
