Any update on the opening? I will be staying in Santa Monica in 2 weeks and this would be very convenient.

Try and snag the first charge! It's not every day you get the opportunity to be the very first non-Tesla person to christen a charger.
Just visited. Looks very close to opening but they put up signs saying out of order. I was bummed for sure.
Did they remove the fence? Hopefully only waiting on final inspection that could happen any days.
The permanent long fence is gone but there are portable 5 ft long fences and paper on the charger unit saying out of order.
Just checked. The small fences are still up. There were a couple of workers around the larger pieces of hardware.

Three fences are all gone. It seems ready for them to just turn the switch on.

This was as of Sunday midday (12/9). Fencing still up but otherwise looking ready, once the permitting (?) is done.
Thanks for the information! My guess is they only need to pass final inspection. Will hopefully happen before I show up on Saturday

Right behind you, arriving in the West Side the weekend before Christmas. I think LA supercharger crush is going to be epic during this holiday. I picture myself sneaking out at 3am to charge to avoid crowds. For a driving city with tons of Tesla's, supercharger penetration seems really low.
