This charger would be enabling for traveling from Sioux Falls to/from Omaha, particularly in the winter. Looking forward to hearing news if anyone has any!
Yep, exactly. 184 miles between those currently. Only the longest range Tesla's can make that in the middle of winter. And even then it may get a little uncomfortable.

Other supercharger construction threads have posted/searched electrical permits available on public record. I tried to search today but I couldn’t find a place on the web to search for these permits in Sioux City.

No news regarding permits or how to track it, but in the South Dakota facebook group we have been requesting for it to be built at the HyVee in South Sioux City, NE. If we get enough people requesting it to be built there through Tesla's website maybe they will see how needed it is.
South Sioux City, NE permit guy emailed back to let me know they have not received a Tesla Electrical Permit Application yet. He said to feel free to reach back out to him next month though! Did not confirm nor deny Tesla’s interest in a SC in South Sioux City, NE. I’ll update the thread if I hear anything back from Sioux City, Iowa.

Did he just say he can't comment on Tesla? If so, that may be a positive sign.

Decided to email the Sioux City, IA contact today and I got this reply:

The project has been approved by the city at 4500 Sergeant Rd – no electrical permits have been issued for the project.
Thank you"
I guess we just need to on the lookout for permits or construction at the Hy-Vee!

Oh boy, hope it's put in a good spot! I like the choices of eating nearby, but I'm a little worried because that parking lot is so small and always seems so busy.

Amen! I frequently drive from the western suburbs of the twin cities to Omaha via Worthington and Sioux City. In the summer my mid range model 3 has no trouble making the Worthington to Omaha trip but winter would be a challenge. Sioux City will make this a very stress free trip. It will also help out those headed to Okoboji to the NE and destinations like Valentine, NE to the west.

The big deal here is it opens up the direct path between Minneapolis and Omaha in the winter (US169/MN60/IA60/US75/I29). The smaller battery traffic is getting routed via Des Moines adding distance and a charging stop or 2.

I stopped by the Hy-Vee at 4500 Sergeant Rd this afternoon and I didn't see any construction yet. I even drove around behind the building where they load/unload trailers. I did see the spot where I assume their electrical service transformer is located (a big green metal box on the ground). The parking lot actually didn't look that full, since it stretches all the way to the Hy-Vee Gas station to the north of the store.

This is awesome, as we can’t go south or east from south central South Dakota without it. Assuming V3 chargers? That would be even crazier having faster charges and not having to share “bandwidth” when it gets busy.
Possible, but don't count on it. We had a supercharger built about a month ago in Robbinsdale, MN and it was still only V2. Personally, I'm speculating that V3 infrastructure is going to be limited to new installs in dense, high-traffic areas.
