Supercharger - Socorro, NM

Where would you put a charger in between those? Cuba, NM?

Probably Cuba, unless the Apache Casino takes its head out of its a** first.

Not everyone has an adapter

Time to get one, or be left behind. Tesla would be foolish to spend its resources on covering a small minority of owners, all of whom can upgrade to CCS compatibility or use CHAdeMO, instead of expanding the network's reach for everybody.

For me, the greater attraction of having a Supercharger in Socorro is being able to travel South then East from Albuquerque rather than East then South. Ruidoso and its surrounding mountains are a lot more accessible, as is White Sands.

Tesla needs to get on that retrofit train. 😵‍💫

Even L2 would be fantastic. That's a terrible gap.
Yes. My last time limping from Farmington to Albuquerque at slow speed in March, I charged at the UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center on Level 2 to make it the rest of the way. If a Supercharger Station came to Grants NM I'd just go the slightly longer way and skip the US 550 direct route (223 miles versus 181 but not that much longer in time). The side trip via Gallup is much longer.

However, I'm an outlier, since my car has only 163 RM in range. For almost everybody else, the 182 miles from Albuquerque to Farmington ought to be fairly easy, even with a strong headwind. At least by my standards.

As for the suggestion that EA, or some other CCS/Chademo network, is the answer. The Chademo adapter hasn't been available from Tesla for years — and is a nearly dead format anyway — and CCS adapters won't work at all with older cars, so far as I'm aware. I'd love to be wrong about the latter, but that's not what I read in the CCS adapter threads.

I've been waiting for Socorro to make it easier to get to T&C in my car without having to make a Level 2 stop on the way. Now that it is almost here, I am looking forward to a trip to visit southern NM Supercharger stations and perhaps a few around El Paso TX (although I'm kind of down on theocratic states, such as TX, given recent news developments).

A member on our Facebook group posted "Good News! For those that drive I25 in New Mexico the planned SC in Socorro Is almost open. It is located by the Best Western and McDonald’s. It has been “coming soon” for years now and it looks like it will be online in the next week or two."

Good progress, but it's gonna need a green box where that conduit is sticking out.
