Permit E21-001155 was issued 9/08/2021 for a new Tesla Supercharger to be installed at 779 McGrath Hwy in Somerville. This would put it in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop supermarket there. This is a Q4'21 location on Tesla's coming soon map.

Install 1200 480 volt service prom pole to transformer. Transformer to feed 1200 Amp switchgear and then the switchgear will feed (2) 400 amp Charging cabinets that feed the 8 Tesla dispensers.

Tiny hint of something with some digsafe markings in the southwest corner of the lot behind the loading docks. Not sure what the permit says for exact location, so this could be nothing.
Haven't seen any site plans - just the address. Probably worth watching as I was thinking that might be one possible spot. The other being under the trees closer to the I-93 south side of the parking lot.

Saw this this morning on Blakeley Ave. Possibly for the supercharger. I think this side of the lot is much more likely to be the location than the I-93 side due to electric pole location.

A little something today. Feeney brothers has some equipment and fencing on site. There are paint lines marking what would appear to be a trench from the new utility pole to a square plot where you could place the cabinets and transformer. Feeney brothers also has a pile of contracts around Somerville so this could just be temporary storage for something else. Also possible that the equipment is simply being rented from them by another contractor for the SC build out. My gut says construction is imminent though.

I think you're probably right with your hunch on construction imminent. We're now in Q4 and we should be seeing construction start to happen at some of the Q4 sites soon. I swung by yesterday mid-day and didn't notice the trench markings (but could have missed them) - definitely no fencing or other equipment.

Thanks for the updates!

@tes-s @MarcoRP time for a cone on supercharge.info?

Bingo. New England Electrical Contracting Co. on-site today to begin construction. Fences up and cleared the tree and brush from the corner with paint down to map cabinets and transformer location. Crew thinks they will be working here till Christmas. They had a good laugh that I showed up on day 1. “How did you know?”

A stupid question that I think we already know the answer to... did they confirm this was a Tesla Supercharger?

@Chuq @corywright @MarcoRP @tes-s Please update the location to 42.390558, -71.086016.

A supercharger near boston not in a paid parking garage?!? Another brilliant tesla innovation!

There are only three superchargers in the Boston area located in paid garages: Back Bay, Cambridge and Fenway. On the other hand there are currently seven superchargers on Route 128 or inside it with free parking: Braintree, Chestnut Hill, Dedham, Dorchester, Lexington, Lynnfield and Revere. Compared to New York, where many superchargers are valet only, we have nothing to complain about.

Exactly, all the chargers near the city are in garages.
Valet superchargers!? Might as well remove them from the map!

Clearing more trees and existing fences today. Storage container on site but no cabinets or pedestals yet. I would guess once the clearing of shrubs is done the next step would be cutting the trench. Cabinet/transformer area has been dug out.
