Supercharger - South San Francisco, CA (LIVE, 20 urban stalls)

It looks like it's directly in the front entrance where priority parking is. Their main lot is gated on both sides with a swing arm. Front lot is fenced off and construction is underway. I'll try to take photos the next time I drive by.

Anyone know how far away from electrical and rebar install to charger going live?

Friggen AWESOME work everyone. Been wanting one in SSF for a long time. DC isn't that far away and has a lot, but, this one is closer to my moms house and very convenient.

Thank you again to all that contribute to this thread. I will be watching closely.

See the thread title. I try to keep all the CA Supercharger thread titles up to date so that it is easy for people reading this subforum to scan the thread title list and see what’s going on.
It’s most likely my bad.. I saw the “frighten awesome” post and the “great work guys” post, and somehow thought there had been some measurable movement or completion, but STARING is indeed AWESOME

OK guys, I stopped by the Embassy Suites today and spoke to the construction workers and they informed me that there will be 20 total superchargers and two destinations chargers. I neglected to ask which type of superchargers but I would assume that they will be urban. Currently there is a gate to get into the parking lot and it is pay to park but I spoke to the manager of the hotel and asked her what the status of the superchargers will be once they are active and she informed me that they will be complementary with no charge for parking. Excellent news. The construction workers told me that the pedestals should be installed by next week but of course that is not any indication of when the site will go active. The chargers are located on the southwest side of the building so when you pull into the parking lot turn to your immediate right.

Great job! Thanks. Your assumption about type is right on the money, you can see from the conduit layout for the cabinets and the pedestal bases that they'll be urban style superchargers (72 kW).

Yes! Finally! Can’t wait to see this open. I live in Brisbane and though Daly City is close, I typically would rather charge in San Mateo. Not a fan of looping around San Bruno mountain then climbing a multistory parking structure. This is going to be great.

One thing that strikes me as odd, is what looks to be minimal amenities, especially if this is to be a 72kwh station. There’s the hotel restaurant and then a 7-Eleven across the large road, but not seeing much more on maps at least.

Guess that’s why we have V10!

Will drive by daily, since this is somewhat on the way home from work and post if there are updates.

I suspect that Tesla has found it very challenging to find Supercharger sites in San Francisco, and by extension, South SF. They have to take what they can get. Also, this site appears to have Urban chargers and is likely targeted at owners who have difficulty charging at where they live, not at long distance travelers, so having a lot of amenities is non-critical.

Yeh was thinking that too. Land is at a premium anywhere, and especially up here. My understanding is that typically, only the malls have 72kWh.

Makes sense from a business partnership standpoint. Longer charge = more time at mall to spend money.

In the case of long distance travelers, I think the majority of people using 150 kWh chargers in the area are local. To add to that, the majority of stations in the Bay Area are 150kWh. With the sheer number of Tesla’s on the road, I’d imagine Tesla would want as many high kWh stations so as to get people in and out quicker to avoid queues.

Granted in this case, there are 20 stalls available so that should help the queue but even that isn’t enough to satisfy the demand.

I’m thinking someone beyond Tesla (city or property owner) wasn’t keen on having a high voltage operation beyond the 72kWh usage.

Anyways, just an interesting discussion point. It’s great to finally have a station in construction up here.

Confirmed 20 urban stalls and two non-supercharger stalls. 10 stalls are charging only (one of which is handicap), and the other stalls are 30 min parking. The pay gate has been removed.
