A local Tesla owner was in a meeting and saw a sentence in some meeting minutes from December that the Weis Market in Bellefonte (near I-80 exit 162) is "looking to install a Supercharger". She said she should know more next week. I saw a single traffic cone a month ago at the exact spot where I think they would install the chargers. I will drive by tomorrow to see if I can see any thing that looks promising.
Harrisburg is at a Weis market - and according to the signs, they are paying for the electricity, too.
That would be great news. There is definitely a gap on Rt 80 between Bloomsburg and Macedonia, OH. I contacted Tesla a month ago and there was no info regarding a SC on that stretch. Fingers crossed!
There needs to be another one besides just Bellefonte. I have done the trip from Macedonia to Bellefonte and it's not easy in an 85.
Yes, that's way too far. Mercer, PA (Comfort Inn I-80/US-19/I-79ish) DuBois, PA (I-80/US-219) Bellefonte, PA That would split to 65-80 mile gaps, plus help cover the N/S routes.
Now that they've updated their 2017 wish list locations, how goes the Bellefonte supercharger? Would love to have it operational before the first PSU football game this fall.
After finding the Falls Creek supercharger at Sheetz, I called the two Sheetz locations in Bellefonte but neither had any knowledge of superchargers going in.
Still no signs of Tesla mentioned in the supervisor or planning commission minutes of the municipality that the two plausible sites are located in. No construction signs either. A new Sheetz was constructed off I-99 in State College at the Toftrees exit and there are no superchargers located at that location either. End of 2017 is not looking good.
I'm going to bet that Sheetz is looking to build a new site at the intersection of 99 & 80 and the chargers will go in with the build. No other reason to dawdle.
I haven't been over there yet, do they have any sort of EV charging stations at all? When they rebuilt the Sheetz on North Atherton they put a single EV charging station there (ChaDeMo or something), so I was hoping when they rebuilt the one at the intersection of Valley Vista and Atherton across from Lowes it would have a Supercharger. But they don't have ANY EV charging stations there for some reason. It would have been the perfect location for a Supercharger.
There are level 2 J1772 chargers around. The national drive electric event is at a local hotel tomorrow. Over 40 attendees have registered.
Guess what is confirmed in Bellefonte today? I know, pics or it didn't happen. I'll get them tomorrow. Weis at the Zion exit off I99. 2 miles from I80 exit 162.
Full crew working. I will come back over the weekend and look closely and let you know number of stalls.
4 cabinet boxes in the pic, maybe. 8 stalls. Consistent with other I-80 locations. Not that I NEED a reason to visit State College
So, Weis it is! That's the last Supercharger needed for easy, "direct" travel between Pittsburgh, PA and northeastern New England. Altoona or Holidaysburg, PA would be helpful for flexibility, but Tesla is planning a Pittsburgh, PA Supercharger.
There are 10 spaces in that section. Boxes for 8 chargers. 135kw variety. And just for the record, the location that I was keeping an eye on for where they were going to put the chargers is not here. The address above is correct. Stores at this location. Weis with a cafe and bottle shop Walkin medical clinic And a wire and spirits store. There are rumblings around town that a Wendy's is getting built next year.
They are getting really fast at these build-outs, and even the permitting it seems! So cool to see the rapid expansion. We were just in State College a few weekends ago, and remarked how nice it would be to have since they are like 90 miles from 3 other SC locations. No more range anxiety for us!

That is a stretch that could do with a new Supercharger. Macedonia, OH is a significant diversion.
