My OCD is a going off a bit here, but this is the 4th thread for this supercharger location in the mountain sub. Three of them are located on the 1st page of the supercharger sub forum. And half of the supercharger threads are on the main sub forum for the mountain region. I'm sure it wouldn't take someone more than a few minutes to organize the space.

Usually "Reduced Service" is manageable. Sometimes it just means that a few stalls are blocked off. Other times it means that you'll get a slow charge. But I've never seen a "Reduced Service" where you couldn't charge at all. If that were the case it would just say "Temporary Closure."

If you want more specific info, you should call Tesla Roadside Assistance and they will probably be able to give you more details.

Just an update for those who are coming up from the Bay Area or for a visit...

1. Consider this a slow supercharger and plan accordingly: You will be getting about 60 kW/hr (started out about 75 but dropped down ... and only one other car here out of 14). Occasionally you will see higher kW/hr depending ... who knows.

2. The exit is straight out. Don’t try to go directly back to the highway (US 50) the way you came, but just go straight out the exit for Lake Pkwy (the winding curvy road) turn right and then you will be at the light for US 50 again.

3. It is at the end of the main strip. You will want back towards Stateline for everything good: Starbucks, burgers, Gym Love, etc

Since the last update on this charger was April, I wanted to chime in and say the situation is similar. It's a slower charger. I've charged a couple times here and it's made even slower in my case because my car didn't have enough time to precondition in the freezing temps before arriving. Also, a note for Californians... this is Nevada charger so it charges by the minute, not the kWh. Not a big deal, but something to know if you're wondering what the different rate is about. I'd just say if you plan on charging here, take some time and head over to the Heavenly Village on the California side. Lots of ways to pass the time if you want to avoid gambling. :)

WTF? Hard Rock Casino tried to charge me $15 to use this charger! I used this charger numerous times years ago and it was fast and easy to get to. Now it's slow and you have to go into the paid parking area of the Hard Rock Casino. I plugged in, wandered around the casino, and unplugged after an hour. When I left the parking lot they tried to charge me $15 because I'd been there "over an hour." I got into an argument with the gal and she let me go with a warning never to stay over an hour -- even by a minute! Pretty friggin rude!

So this Supercharger used to be in a free parking garage and now it's in a paid parking garage. How can this be okay with their agreement with Tesla?

I looked in the thread that I believe is for the site you are talking about. I found this reference to payment for parking:

Supercharger - Stateline, NV (South Lake Tahoe) (Sep 2017)

That's almost 5 years ago, so maybe they have changed their policy since then. I would assume that there is a sign along the line of "1 hour free parking for Tesla charging" at the entrance and expect to pay if I stayed longer than 1 hour in the parking garage (not 1 hour of charging).

You might ask in that thread what other people's experience is on thread specific to the charging site for discussions related to a specific charging site. You have a lot better chance of reaching people that have actual experience with the intricacies of a specific charging location. Also, it's not as bad as in NYC, where people need to pay parking fees for just 30 seconds of charging to get credit for the supercharging.life "competition".

There are a number of other non-urban Superchargers in paid parking. It's usually waived if you stay a short time and there's a human there to waive it.
It's still free to charge, you just didn't know about the 1 hour limit. Blame Tesla for that.

If it’s a paid garage, what makes you so special that you don’t have to pay to use space in it? Because you drive a Tesla? Let me guess, you were visiting from the Bay Area?

Tesla doesn’t own the land the charger is on. So the real question is, why do you think Tesla cares what a property owner does with regards to parking near a charging station?

What sucks is the casino never charged for parking in any of their lots and now they are. I can't blame Tesla for that.

We went to Tahoe yesterday (Sunday 8/28/22) and had to pay $15 to park. We only paid $8 to charge. I agree WTF. We went to Tahoe after we took delivery of our Model YLR in June and didn't have to pay. This time we couldn't even get into the parking lot without putting our phone number in, which now means we'll (or me since it was my phone) be getting tons of text messages from Hard Rock and whomever they decide to sell my phone number too. We have decided that if we want to go to Tahoe again, we will take 80 and go through Truckee and charge there. What happened to free parking at Casinos?

FYI - I just did a little more research on this topic and found that Hard Rock charges for parking when there is a concert at Harvey's Outdoor Arena, which I think was the case when we went yesterday because we heard the band practicing. When we went in June it was a weekday and there was nothing going on at the outdoor arena. So, if you want to go and charge, I'd check before to see if there was anything going at Harvey's Outdoor Arena.

They charge at one of the Superchargers in downtown Vegas if you are there more than an hour. The signage isn’t great. I used it several times under an hour and never noticed until once when I was there an hour and five minutes.

Gotta set an alarm for 55 minutes at those places so you can drive out and drive back in again. Grin.

I understand that some places need to charge for parking, but Tesla friendly would be 90 minutes free, at least for older cars.
