Looks like the new parking fee is for everyday and the 1st hour is free.

If 1 hr isn't enough time, charge until you have less than an hour remaining, then leave and come right back and get another hr free.
edit: Just saw Krash's similar comment.

Inflation is causeing lots of previously free things to being charged for.

Plastic bags, food delivery, air at gas stations, vacuums at car washes, etc.
So true, I did find out that there is a charge if there is an event and since we heard a band warming up, I assumed that's why we got charged, but I didn't know that when I sent the first message. Also, it was a weekend and when we got free parking it was during the week, that might have been another reason. I'm new to the Tesla world and have a lot to learn about charging and my Tesla in general. Thanks for your comment.

Was there last Tuesday and unware of the parking fee. First tried to circumvent the lot and found gates everywhere. Bit the bullet and used my CC to gain access after seeing the sign that said the first hour was free. When I got in I was the only one there (Tuesday at 4PM). Charged for 35 minutes and then did not know how to get out since I did not have a ticket. Was getting my CC out to use it to exit and the gate opened automatically. I guess they must be scanning license plates.

A little signage would be nice. And Tesla still has nothing on the Supercharger instructions for this site in the car or on the web stating you have to gain access via paid parking. And no signs either.

There are supposedly two SC stations across the street but they are in valet parking so unless you are at the hotels or spending money there, no help.

Yes, this is crazy. Had been using this supercharge in last 2-3 years and never had that parking fee. Today, I was charged $15 for over an hour and I somehow read the sign but didn't realize it charge so much after the first hour.

And the bad thing is that, no other supercharge in south lake tahoe area. And the worse part is this one is super slow when crowded. One hour is definitely not enough when most of them are occupied.

With only one hour free, that means we have to allocate enough time to exit quickly and lose our charge station for a bit. I really hope Tesla could build more charging station in south lake tahoe area given Tesla has becoming so popular in the last 2 years.

If you have the Tesla CCS adapter, there is an EA charger at 3344 Lake Tahoe Blvd. that will give you similar charge speeds without parking fees and without having to go into the casino district. I realize this doesn't excuse the lack of Tesla branded superchargers in the area, but functionally it's similar.

Would it be worse without the hour limit? At least with the limit you may not have folks overstaying their time and tying up a stall.

And even with slow charge speeds, I have to ask if tying up a Supercharger stall to get the last 15% (I have to imagine you'd get at least to 85% in an hour) the appropriate thing? Sure, it doesn't look like a plethora of L2 options in the immediate vicinity, but there are a few. The ultimate solution may be to lobby for additional destination chargers if you're spending that much time there.

Yes, I am amazed that as long as this charger has been there, no signs exist to help out people coming there for the first time. It is totally confusing. I see drivers stopping at the gate trying to figure out if they need to go in to charge. Some people backup and go out which is not supposed to occur. Some folks don't know to turn right into the garage and go back out again, etc. How hard is it to put a simple sign there to indicate "Tesla charger in garage"
