all right! love the pics. thank you. how many different orientations are there in the Supercharger world? wow. i've not been to many that have the charging cabinets (with the charge cable) facing this way. only been to the "old-school" ones that are at the back of each stall against the curb.

There's all kinds, a lot of the time dictated by the topology of the parking lot, parking garage, etc. where the Supercharger is. I don't think you can apply the term "old school" to one arrangement over another. California has a pretty good assortment of them...pull-in, back-in (pedestals at the back vs. on the sides), perpendicular parking, angled parking, etc. Pretty sure @PLUS EV has seen 'em all. 😁

Bruce.

Please update if you do. I'll likely be driving through Susanville on the 11th, would be great to have a functioning Supercharger!

I checked the car's map this morning and nothing showing up as of today.
I'll be there this evening.

I'll take pictures and provide an update.

Fingers crossed it shows up in the car on the way this afternoon. Happened once before with the first Placerville supercharger!

If the transformer pad is still empty, then there's basically nothing to update. Definitely take pics if the transformer is set though. And look for a meter!

is the transformer a city/land owner thing? Tesla requests/purchases a "standard" transformer from a local utility to then install? This one seems about typical for having all installed (stalls/cabinets/etc), then wait a bit for the actual hook-up equipment. I want this one for Fall, but sooner is always a plus!

The transformer is strictly a utility thing. Once Tesla has cleared electrical permit hurdles and paid any fees to the utility then the utility schedules a transformer install and hookup. The utility has their own criteria for scheduling transformer installs including equipment and crew availability.

My God it's the summer traveling season. Set it up already local utility co!

After they install the transformer, they will most likely have to install the fence before the site goes active. I am going that way in about a week. Doubt it will be active by then. Planning on Reno to Mt. Shasta. Model 3 LR.
I wish that it was down in the shopping center by McDonalds and Starbucks though.

This is great news for me. All of you folks have been debating the need for a Susanville Supercharger to improve your car-only trips. I tow a 17' travel trailer (Alto R1723) with my new Model X LR+. I'm planning a trip through Reno to Likely, CA (20 miles south of Alturas} in July. Although the trailer is light and reasonably aerodynamic, I estimate that my practical range on the trip will roughly equal the miles between Reno and my destination. There are a few spots between Honey Lake and Susanville to top-up, however, the new charger in Susanville would be (almost) perfect! Keeping my fingers crossed ...

Yeah after actually visiting the site, I agree that the location is less than ideal. I don't mind it being off of 395 since there aren't many amenities or even places to put it out on the actual highway, but the casino is further off the Reno-Mt Shasta route than I remembered and the amenities are probably not that GREAT (haven't been inside the casino in quite some time so not really sure). One nice thing about casinos though is you have a 24/7 restroom and usually at least some modicum of food offerings at all hours of the day and night. There's also the gas station nearby which may be open 24 hours (casino gas stations often are).

All that being said, if I were doing the Reno-Mt Shasta drive after this one was open, I'd still be tempted to do the charge to near full/top off at Susanville Red Lion thing because there are so many food options near the Red Lion. People that don't have FREE supercharging like I do will be even more motivated to do that, but I'm guessing most of them won't realize it's an option.

I'm one of those who doesn't have free supercharging and although I like the idea of free, the quicker supercharge would be my choice. Susanville is not my destination, it's a waypoint. 🚘⚡
I would go that route as well. But in this case, a 1 hour top off at the FREE HPWC while you have lunch would likely be sufficient to make the Reno-Shasta trip. I wasn't suggesting that someone should do a 6-hour slow charge just to save a few bucks. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

No misunderstanding, I totally agree with what you are saying. In my case, I'll be towing on most trips up 395, which will pull 2 to 2-1/2 times the KW per mile. (educated guess) So I'll have a larger top-up than most. If the new superchargers aren't available by my July trip - I"ll definitely be using a slower alternative.
