Parked yesterday for reservations on their rooftop bar, and was late due to Lakeshore being closed, construction elsewhere. Couldn't find a regular parking spot and stumbled across the superchargers. Didn't want to supercharge and pay idle fees, then noticed the HPWCs. Tried to plug in but realized the ends were J1772. Used my adapter, started charging, enjoyed food and drink at the bar. Got parking ticket validated at the lobby desk. So got free parking and charging during my stay. Almost made up for the overpriced food and drink (with automatic 18% gratuity added) but the view was worth it.

A question on idle fees - I have free Supercharging as I have a 2104 Model S. How do they hit me for idle fees if I don't have a payment mechanism set up for charging?

If you have an outstanding balance, your supercharging will be blocked until you add your payment and pay the balance.

I charged there today at lunchtime. Was in the parking lot for 15mins exactly (based on ticket timestamp) and they charged me the $5 upon exit.

Were you there less than 15mins?

Was there for less then 10 minutes today, navigation said I would make it home with -4%, so stopped for a quick charge, was not charged for parking

There are both types, and I'm definitely going to try the restaurant parking validation trick sometime!
