Wonderful. As a native son born in LA I recall that Santa Monica is a city in Los Angeles County, thus LA is quite accurate. The other terminus has no such ambiguity since it is in the eternally under construction downtown Jacksonville intersection with I-95. To my chagrin Tesla and I have often visited both of these not-entirely-pleasant intersections. As a confirmed pedanticist myself I applaud your distinction. Just for clarification I lived there, barely, when the Western end of what became I-10 was Ramona Boulevard.
I'm originally from the really far west — fifth generation Hawaiian born.

OK, I-8 has rare snow. Still, if the poster had said LA/San Diego would you have commented? The point is clear, now only Fort Stockton is an impediment. Considering the number of people who travel Florida-California regularly, the I-10 gap is Big Deal from late-September to late-May. Surely nobody will argue much with that?

We want Fort Stockton!!!

Exactly right.

Well, I-10 doesn't go to San Diego and I-8 is not always snow free since it crosses the Laguna Mountains at an elevation of 4190 feet (1280 m). Just saying... :)

Yep. It is *because* of that occasional snow and road closures on I-8 (just like I-40's black ice near Flag, and I-70's snowed-in closure both sides of the Eisenhower Tunnel this past May), that I-10 remains the safest transcontinental option year-round. And that includes westbound to San Diego from Tucson or anywhere else.

Tangentially, taking I-8 to/through San Diego in a Tesla hasn't been a consideration for years - due, in large measure, to the I-10 SC-related delays. One simply takes I-10 through LA, has dinner, and hangs a left to get to San Diego - which for context for those unfamiliar with the area, is just an hour or so past Orange County.

I wonder why they stopped fencing in the equipment? Not that it really provided any security but it did help with the visual impact somewhat.
I think Supercharger hardware tends to be fenced in populated areas, and not in rural areas. Probably for aesthetic reasons and to keep kids out. If the local entities don't require it, Tesla isn't going to spend the money.

The Tucson Mall .......MAY..... MAY ......be the location of a second Tucson Supercharger. Please check it out for those who visit that Mall. Construction of a second Tucson supercharger is soon to be in the works.

Local rumors have a second Tucson Supercharger at La Encantada Mall. Further north and more upscale than Tucson Mall. That's where the Apple Store is, and, if Tesla ever opens a Tucson gallery, that's where I would expect it to be. This is pretty far from any freeway exit though. If this actually happens, I wonder if this location would have the new urban chargers instead.

Getting north of 330 mph. At 4B at the Rita Road Superchargers! This supercharger has been a blessing.IMG_20171114_160408234.jpg Screenshot_20171114-160927.png makes it so nice to turn Tucson and get back to Safford in a reasonable amount of time making it an easy day trip. Can't wait for Willcox!
