Supercharger - Tumwater, WA

This bums me out. There are times coming back from Portland where I'd love to skip Centralia. Even the future Tacoma location would be nice.

I have the M3 SR+ and on a full charge from Lynnwood I could definitely make it all the way to vancouver WA. Coming back the other way there's no super charger in that last 25% of the drive. :)
You live in Lynnwood though. There is a supercharger at your local Fred Meyer.

I think it's good enough. Food, restrooms, random crap you can buy, and getting on and off the freeway at that location is actually incredibly fast. Better than centralia IMO. Years ago I'd stop there sometimes in my ICE due to the quality of the mini mart and bathrooms.
As noted in by several other posters, my issue was not with the amenities or the ease of getting on/off the freeway but rather the small parking lot.

Time for the locals to take another swing by to check things out. Here's some evidence showing forward progress on this as a supercharger location: Washington One Call ticket # 19411450
Ticket No: 19411450

Remarks: AREA MARKED IN WHITE. CALLER LAT /LONG
Caller GPS: Lat: 46 57 10.61 Lon: -122 56 06.37
It's a utilities location request by Blackstone Construction--this is the same group and contacts that recently did the work on the Spokane and Moses Lake superchargers (both sites only have the infrastructure done so far)--in preparation for digging to new install electrical service for Tesla. It includes a GPS tag of the exact location, which is right where you'd put a supercharger if you were going to try and cram one into the "available" parking there: 46.952947, -122.935103

Also, while the building permit application from 2018 for the fence hasn't been approved yet, it did have an extension to the plan review applied to it in April 2019. Though that was probably an automatic process triggered by 6 months from the original application date (in October 2018) having passed.

I would expect it to be a little bit closer to the 101 ramp, but still a good news. 30 miles from Ridge Motorsports Park means we will have 70% energy to spend on the track (a good session for me use 36% energy). Next year we will have more fun there!

101? Isn't this location off an I-5 exit? If my understanding is correct, it's a few miles from the Highway 101 interchange.

Yeah, 101 interchange I mean.

The ideal location for a track day supporting supercharger will be along 101, like the Little Creek Casino. No sure if the traffic that side is enough for a superchager though. The charging location I currently used after Ridge track day is the ChaDeMo station near Tumwater Deli Market, one exit north to the permit location. However that's too slow for a mid day "refuel" compared to Centralia.

I'm not sure that the supercharger team's priority is to enable fun days at the track. Actually, I'm sure that it isn't.

This looks like a truck stop. If Tesla building a charger there I would guess it’s one of the Megachargers network for the Semi.

It would be nice if official auto racing bodies could work with Tesla and license an urban super charger or full on super charger for installation at tracks. You might have a number of tracks get on board and pay to have one installed.
Yah, I wish I knew the contacts at Tesla to get the ball rolling for at or near track Superchargers or at least destination chargers*. I've already started collecting contacts for The Ridge, PIR, and ORP. Pacific is another on my todo list.

* The Ridge disconnected their destination chargers when they did construction for the new building. Another on my todo list is to start a discussion about how (and where specifically) to get them reinstalled.

Pacific already has one destination charger and several 14-50 outlets. I think that's the least worrying spot on your list.

@brianman and @wenkan sorry to have missed you at the Ridge on Saturday! I was there with a fellow TMCer for the parade lap and must have missed you all leaving and returning from Centralia.

I think getting Superchargers in at tracks is actually an important cultural investment to help change minds and hearts (faster) re: EVs not being manly/rugged enough.

Also because after my parade lap and ride along at the Ridge I plan to hit the track next summer :D:D:D

Related, while searching for something on masculinity and anti-EV sentiment I found this, citing electric car advertising from 100 years ago:
Femininity and the Electric Car: Early Automobiles and“Separate Spheres”
At times the electric car and its purportedly female clientele seemed entwined, as the electric’s advocates used a Victorian language of gender to talk about cars. Country Life in America writer Phil M. Riley combated the criticism that “electric power is weak,” by asserting, “It is important with an electric not to waste power needlessly, that is all.” Riley assured his readers that “the proper sphere of the electric vehicle is not in competition with the gasolene [sic] touring car.” Just as conservative commentators admonished women to forego high-powered business and political activity and conserve their energy for domestic tasks, so, Riley said, the electric vehicle might fulfill its mission as “an ever-ready runabout for daily use,” leaving extended travel and fast driving to men in gas-powered cars.

Wow!
