Wow, great news! Thanks for posting. I am amused that a TMC member in Tasmania was the first to find it.

This will be very useful for people in the LA area traveling to Havasu City. Although I grew up in Southern California, I've never driven on Hwy 95. I will be in Palm Springs soon, maybe I should go check out this new Supercharger.

NICE I don't know much about the casino other than it looks small-ish when driving by, but its located right outside the north entrance to Joshua Tree National Park which is a massive and amazing geological place where the Colorado and Mojave deserts collide. Put it on your list to visit.

My wife and I are planning on doing some hiking in Joshua Tree later this month when we are in Palm Springs so it looks like we will be able to visit this new Supercharger.

You've got the Indio SC closer to the South entrance of the Park and now this one adjacent to the North entrance. From Palm Springs you are almost central and could enter one/exit the other. Its breathtaking and impossible to explore in one day. You'll be back.
I strongly suggest you bundle up and add a night hike for star gazing too. The guides are phenomenal and its less crowded in the Winter.

I have been to Joshua Tree area a couple of times in my Tesla. I had to go down into the Palm Springs area to charge. I had wanted to do the non-freeway route (Pinto Basin Road) to get down instead of the main route, so this supercharger will now open the more remote path through the park. If you can't tell I like remote places.

The best spots in Joshua Tree for hiking are near the campgrounds and the places where folks rock climb. The rocks are stunning. I backpacked through the park a number of years ago, and unlike most other parks, the closer in places are the most interesting.

Wow, what a surprise! This SC is also good for coming back from Vegas "the back way" to the Coachella Valley. It's about 180 miles from the Strip.

Yay, that's a perfect spot. If you want to visit Joshua Tree Park this is awesome news. I drive up there several times but always had to plan it very well to make it in and out and make it home.

I much prefer Death Valley over Joshua Tree, but the park is very nice. I visited once, and I remember that I stopped at one of the major rock formations and got out to hike towards them to check them out. I heard someone playing a didgeridoo sounding instrument as I hiked, so I diverted over a ridge to see who was playing. It turned out to be a young couple in their 20s. I thought "huh" and continued on. Then someone else in a different area started playing a wooden flute, which turned out to be a different young couple.

Maybe I picked an odd day, but I decided Joshua Tree's visitors were a little too counter-culture for me. I like my desert wildernesses quiet.

Absolutely, Death Valley is a much better choice than Joshua Tree as Joshua Tree can be very crowded. Joshua Tree is also very developed in the sense it is overly paved and overly signed. My favorite areas for quiet and remoteness in Death Valley are Saline Valley, Saratoga Springs and Butte Valley. Though none of my favorite areas are easily visited in any Tesla due to conditions, not due to any lack of charging. Here's an example of one of my videos from Butte Valley. The white truck is mine:

For you lovers of remote desert and near zero tourists I'd suggest KOFA National Wildlife Refuge east of Joshua Tree.

OK, my apologies, I'm just such a desert rat, it is hard for me to stay off the desert subject.

In September, I drove the route from the Indio supercharger through Joshua Tree NP and on to the Needles supercharger. That path basically took me right past this casino. I had to be somewhat careful not to burn too many miles, so I wasn't able to wander off the beaten path in the park, so this new supercharger will alleviate those issues.

Last time I was there, I saw a couple other Teslas on the road. No idea if they were local or not. There is definitely a set of very nice houses close to the town and the park itself.

I wonder how many snowbirds and locals use the back way from Palm Springs to reach Interstate 15 near the Nipton exit. It is much more direct, but has a very low traffic count. I would think that more would avail themselves of US95, SR62, SR177 and Interstate 10.
