Supercharger - Twentynine Palms, CA

I just spoke with the casino, and they tell me the supercharger is up and running, so good news, tortoise rock casino, in twenty nine palms, California, thumbs up, very near Joshua tree park, they said there are 6 charges, so no waiting, it probably won't ever be full, I would guess, and I hope we get some pics soon,...

I wonder how many snowbirds and locals use the back way from Palm Springs to reach Interstate 15 near the Nipton exit. It is much more direct, but has a very low traffic count. I would think that more would avail themselves of US95, SR62, SR177 and Interstate 10.

Most of us prefer taking SR62 to SR247 (Old Woman Springs Rd) to the 15 at Barstow as an alternate to I10 to I15 as the route through the Mojave Preserve can become a real mess if there's a wreck or other problem.

TR5642, did you make it to 29 palms?!
I have not been there yet.
Good luck.

Sorry, didn't get back here while I was on the road. Yes. Neat and tidy new supersharger. Not anything within walking distance but the casino but it has clean bathrooms and beverages.

Used this charger on Friday as I was heading from San Diego to Laughlin/Bullhead City. I am glad they added one more along the route that I take a few times a year, always use near a full charge from Cabazon to Needles so it is good to be able to drive the 50 or so extra miles and have an extra buffer.

Casino is small and restaurant is even smaller, the food is probably not worthy of the 1-2 star rating on yelp. They do not allow children inside the casino under 6 even in the restaurant area. So will not be stopping again with family, pretty disappointed tesla would choose this location knowing this. Made a 6 hour road trip with 2year old pretty miserable as there is no place nearby for them and planned on using this location for main charge. I was at least able to talk security guard at casino into letting us order food from restaurant with kid before they made us leave.

So you were able to order food to go for your family. Glad to hear it.

To those who are complaining about this Supercharger location: in small desert towns like Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree there aren't very many potential Supercharger locations. Tesla has to take what it can get. I for one am not complaining about this new Supercharger.

Sorry if it came across like complaining. I'm super happy with the location. In fact I'm happy with any supercharger location. Every single one helps! I just appreciate the info about the lack of options at this place. I take a lot of road trips and I try to plan longer or short stops at stations depending on how much each has to offer. That's all.

I will be using this SC Friday, Feb 24, before driving through Joshua NP. I plan to pick up a sandwich at Crossroads Cafe, which I really enjoyed a year ago. Unfortunately I see this cafe is 16 miles west of the casino.

A little too early to see wildflowers, although some have been reported at the south end of the park.
The new SC status display shows this SC as likely the least used in southern CA.

When you mention the "SC Status Display" are you just poking at it on screen and seeing it empty or is there something more sophisticated I've missed?

Without poking you see a red circle with a line through it instead of a pin. If you poke it, the box says "Temporary Closure" in red with no time estimate. If you touch lightning bolt, you see pin with no bars. Nothing more sophisticated.
