Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

I feel everyone’s disappointment at how slow the utility companies are in finalizing supercharger installs but looking back at my post, #69 on January 17th, I’d spoken with the foreman of the construction crew. He expected it would take Edison six weeks to complete their work, “typical in these kind of jobs”. That’s February 28 . If it goes live anytime before that I would consider it wonderful.

There has been no progress at the site for the past week. The SCE hookup, landscaping, and fence repair seem to be the pacing tasks.

I just visited the SCs today for the first time. 24 of them are installed. From afar they looked done and ready, but then I noticed that each has "Caution" tape around it. Now for that frustrating time period when they look done but the last 2% of the work doesn't seem to be getting done.

Madsigh is correct. I live in this exact area (about 1.2 miles from The Promenade). I live in "Westlake Village," but my mayor is the mayor of Thousand Oaks, and my kids go to Conejo Valley Unified schools, and I live in Ventura County. If we lived less than a mile east of where we are now, we'd actually be in Los Angeles County, my kids would go to Las Virgenes Unified schools, and we would live in the actual city of Westlake Village (not the area of Thousand Oaks that people call "Westlake Village").

So, we really are Thousand Oaks, but locals do refer to this area as Wetlake Village. When I hear "Thousand Oaks," I'm picturing the part of town that's a little further west of us, even though is all actually is Thousand Oaks right up until you get to the L.A. county border. All of this is to say that, even though it's technically Thousand Oaks, I'd refer to this SC station as "Westlake Village." If there's another one at The Oaks mall (firmly in the middle of Thousand Oaks, aka "T.O."), then I definitely would refer to this one at The Promenade as "Westlake Village" (aka "Westlake") to avoid confusion when talking to a another local Tesla owner.

Confused yet?? :)

Went by today. Curious about Madsigh's comment above unless they reopened up what he thought was filled. I saw a fenced in area with signs for open trenches and all of the transformers were hidden behind green construction fences. Did see landscaping was mostly in. Still yellow tape around most of the charging stations.

When I stopped by this afternoon, almost all of the plants were in the ground, and they were installing drip irrigation. It might be hard to discern in my photo, but you can see where the trench near Wedtlake Blvd. is filled in. Before they take down the fence at that end, they’ll probably want to repair the sidewalk. For comparison, I’ve included an old photo (Jan 24) of the same area when the trench was still exposed.

I'm curious why the utilities are typically the sticking point in Supercharger installs (So Cal Edison or Dept Water & Power) same goes for PV home installations. Seems there is good reason for public to call them out since after all they are Public Utilities.

There was no work underway this morning. Except for the area allong the off ramp fence, the irrigation is complete. Perhaps they are holding off on that area until the fence is repaired?

The equipment area is still protected by temporary fencing. That probably won’t change until the Westlake Blvd. sidewalk is repaired. Nevertheless, the SCs could presumably by used while the sidewalk remains unfinished.
