I guess you'll be getting used to some new scenery on Wyoming Highway 59 now! I'm sure the Lusk route was getting old :)

If you upgraded to a 100D, you could just stay on I-25 like a normal person lol.
Indeed—I think I shaved about 58 miles to Gillette and like a mind reader I was contemplating a 100D. Will want that for Mexico, but I want to hit 200k in the P85+ first, so maybe next month:)
Wheatland enables a Casper SC as an option now, so hopefully it will follow. 5 years qualifies as delayed gratification methinks!

Might want to update PlugShare with some pix.
Didn't take any. Went over to the A&W for a burger. We started out from Centennial, CO at 7:30 am and arrived in Sheridan, WY at about 6:00 pm. We could have made it to Billings, but the wife and I were both tired. We lost about 15 minutes when stopped by a Sherrif's vehicle. Just got a warning. According to my cruise control I was set at 77 mph in a 70 zone. The warning said he'd seen me at over 80 mph. How accurate is the Model S speedometer? Anyway, the warning said I was driving a gray car, and one digit in my birth date was wrong, as well as one digit in my home address. Figured the Wheatland SC saved us at least 90 minutes. When the Casper SC goes in, it should save ~ 1 more hour. Next year I should be able to do each way in a single day.

My next Tesla (when the stock price gets above $1000 will be a 100(or higher)D.

My Escort radar detector has GPS, and when there's an alert, it shows the current speed as calculated by its GPS. The Tesla speedometer is consistently 1-2 mph ABOVE the Escort's reading. This is also confirmed by several side-of-the-street speed warnings, which clock you and tell you your speed. FWIW, I have 19" tires, if that makes a difference.

Wheatland, WY will also help people check on Casper, WY Supercharger progress (when it eventually begins).

Barry, the side-of-the-street signs will show a lower speed than you're actually going, especially as you get close to passing the sign. The reason is trigonometry. The sign sensor works on Doppler and is only accurate dead ahead of the sign. As your angle to dead ahead increases, the speed on the sign falls off as the cosine of that angle. I don't know why your Escort reading is lower. BTW, I have cruised past highway patrols at 7 mph over the limit several times. I usually set my cruise control at 5 mph over, but sometimes ease it up to 7 when the traffic moves faster as it often does in Wyoming on the open Interstates. Dan Rivers (Model S 75D)

Good to hear that Wheatland finally opened up. We came through there a week ago, but too early to benefit. Driving from Gillette to Cheyenne, I agonized over detouring to Lusk of I25 to avoid being running out of juice. Instead, I kept the overall trip to an average of 58 mph and made it to Cheyenne with 7 miles on the meter, having traveled 249 miles in our Model S 75D, a new personal best.

Stayed here overnight and charged up for trip to Independence Rock. Came in from Scottsbluff, following old Oregon Trail for as much as possible, charging stations permitting. Hotel modern, clean and comfortable. Ate at Windy Peak Brewary and Grill in downtown Wheatland. Food was excellent, lots of beers and they make an outstanding bloody mary. Had Rootbeer freeze at A&W across the way from SC to top it off. Enjoyed Scottsbluff National Monument, Fort Laramie, and various POI along the way. The new TM3 makes these excursions fun!
