Supercharger - Windsor, CA (LIVE 5 Nov 2021, 12 V3 stalls)

The center concrete pad was poured today. The pad for the PG&E transformer is pre-cast and on site, as are also what appear to be three SC cabinet pads.
The conduit trench for the 12 pedestals is quite deep.
It looks like existing parking stalls that are adjacent to the SC stalls being built will be made longer than before. There is quite a bit of parking lot/curbing work being done.

Three SC cabinets have arrived on site, along with two other electrical cabinets.
Four additional cement pedestal footings are also now on site (for a total of 12). Three of the footings are already placed (see photos), nine are awaiting installation.
@bmah May I request that the thread title be updated to indicate 12 stalls?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Supercharger site where the charger pedestals are aligned along an arc. I’m used to seeing them in a straight line. Comments, anyone? Or is it bad luck to say “arc” around this kind of equipment? :)

Done!

There are at least a couple of NorCal examples of Supercharger installations along a curve (if you don't like saying "arc" :))...most of the stalls at the Dublin Supercharger are in a curved part of a parking lot, and one of the San Jose Superchargers is set up this way as well (don't remember which one).

Progress continues unabated. The site requires quite a lot of concrete curbing work, and now add to that what appears to be additional sidewalk access. I’m guessing the new sidewalk is located next to an ADA-compliant charging stall.

The crew worked late on a Friday to get a great start on the curbing! They also set the posts for the wall/fence that surrounds the SC cabinets.

Remaining major work items: Complete curbing/parking lot/sidewalk work; pull copper; install PG&E transformer (pad already on site), install charge pedestals, connect to grid, inspection sign-offs. Whew! But it all looks to be coming along nicely.

The curbing and sidewalk work look complete. But then the crew removed a large section of the parking lot asphalt! So more work to be done there. A new parking surface in that area will be nice.

Looks like more trenching is planned on the project’s west side. So more asphalt work to be done. Not sure what that trench will be used for. It is close to where the PG&E transformer will be located.

But here is today’s big news: Copper is on site! Plus, six boxes from Tesla have also arrived. I’m assuming each box contains two Tesla charging pedestals, for a total of twelve.

Tomorrow’s weather forecast is rain, clearing up the next day.

The parking lot paving was completed yesterday. The screen/fence is going up around the electrical distribution and SC cabinet hardware. All twelve charging pedestals are installed, but pulling electrical wire to each has not yet been done. There is no progress to report on the location where the PG&E transformer will be installed. That part of the project site seems stuck in time! But the rest is moving along swimmingly.

This project is entering the final phases. All the wires have been pulled to the charging pedestals and the giant spools of copper wire now sit empty. The crew looks to be wrapping up a few final details, like painting.

However, there is still no progress to report on the PG&E transformer install. Unless transformers are made out of plywood these days, it’s going to be a while before this site has any chance of going online.

Good news: Not only was E-TECH on site today (as usual), but so was Tesla and PG&E! They were very busy moving ahead on the PG&E transformer install.

There are two transformer trenches actively being worked. In the first photo, a worker is standing in the north trench. It is headed towards an adjacent sidewalk, which has been marked with spray paint to indicate the location of buried utilities (like PG&E). The second trench is heading west, and is visible in the left of the photos. That trench aligns exactly with spray paint lines on the parking lot:

Will they trench the parking lot? Or tear up the north-side sidewalk? Where will PG&E grid power actually come from? Stay tuned!

The Underground Service Alert markings were updated/refreshed just a few days ago. I don’t know for sure, of course, but it certainly looks like E-TECH plans to excavate this area soon.

A PG&E truck was parked there today. The gentleman inside of it told me he was there to do some transformer installation prep work. He did not know a target date for the actual transformer install.

After over a month of no visible progress, E-TECH is on site today! And indeed they are in excavation mode. It appears that they are extending the conduit from the transformer to under the sidewalk. If I have read the “service alert” paint markings correctly, there is PG&E service under the sidewalk. So maybe this is how grid power will be supplied to the Supercharger? This is just speculation on my part.
