Re: Seattle Union St, I was unable to avoid a $6 charge despite a 10 minute charge. I self parked at night, but it sure looks like they want you to valet only.

@JSergeant The 80% limit temporarily reprograms your upper limit, but is easily overridden. If circumstances were reasonable to do so, I would have upped the charge limit to what you needed, which would have eliminated both of your issues—insufficient charge and unintended overcharging.
Yes, I realize I can override the 80% limit and yes I could have changed the upper limit, except I would have set it back to 80%. Since I was being told it had been set to 80%, I didn't bother - I didn't realize that was a temporary setting, which was my point. I should have twigged when I got the warning again at Newburgh, but I wasn't really paying much attention or thinking about it then.

This trip is the first time I’ve seen that 80% message as well. Good to know it’s worth checking our settings after all is said and done.

I will say it has been a joy to pay zero attention to charge rate/needs/range this trip. We’ve only charged as long as it took to count or as long as it took us for a rest room stop. Zero waiting for the car.

I plugged in when I got home. When I checked the charge status this morning, I found that I had charged to 100%. I had just assumed that when the max was set to 80% at the Supercharger that that 80% setting would stay there.
The charge rate/max is remembered by location. If you last set it to 100% at home, it will charge to 100% the next time you plug in at home.

Same thing happens if the charge current is cut 25% due to an electrical system glitch. Next time you plug in at that location, max current will be 30A unless you push it back up with the plus sign.

Added a new supercharger today, may be a First as I have the first entry in the spreadsheet. The NAV said only 5/5 available on my way but there are 12 total spots and 9 cars charging right now including me. So it is only showing how many are available not how many are in use and total,

I stopped by Toms River today. Spreadsheet updated. My total is now 661.

This one might be a bit tricky if you are following the Tesla navigation from the GSP southbound, or maybe I was just not interpreting the instructions correctly. I navigated to 379 Dover Rd. I thought I was supposed to keep to the right on the exit ramp, but if you do so you end up on a ramp to Dover Rd and by the time you realize this is wrong it's too late. (The red line is what I did). I ended up having to continue on Dover Rd for a while until I could do a U turn. Instead you need to keep to the left on the exit ramp and then take a right onto Double Trouble Rd.

I also stopped by the Staten Island location on the way home. It's still not live. There were some electricians there who said it still needs some work done by Con Ed, so next week is likely to be the earliest it will be live.

I disagree on the part about charge limit remembering by location. That’s not a thing.

My car does not do that either. Charge limit is global; charge current is location-dependent and not configurable for DC charging.
I also disagree. My charge % was still set at 100% when I left home to drive to Toms River this morning. On the way back I remembered about setting it back to 90% so I did it when I was driving. When I got home it didn't revert back to 100%, although interestingly it did seem to have set itself to 80% (unless I fat fingered the setting while driving).

I think he's conflating a geofenced charge rate (ie 24A) with absolute charge limit (90%).
Yes, you guys are right. I confused the two. I use my UMC at two locations - home and ski condo. I use different max currents at each due to long run at one location and greater voltage drop. It remembers the charge current, not the % charge.

Sorry about that!

In the thread, people are saying that they got rid of the grace period due to abuse. The same thing happened at San Diego-A Street. Also, I did go in fairly late (11pm I think), but I didn't have any trouble self-parking. Given that it's now a strict pay garage, it's unlikely I will go to this supercharger again despite the fact that it is currently my "home supercharger." Sad!

Lastly, the 10am Sunday opening is unfortunate for a supercharger, but the central business district is notoriously dead on Sundays (same is true for Portland IIRC), so I can see why. Even the malls a few blocks away aren't open any earlier than that on a Sunday so it's hard to imagine a typical "urban supercharger" use at that hour.

Apparently Tesla doesn't want you using this urban charger for road trips. I really did need the charge but the whole time I was charging the nav kept trying to send me to Issaquah before Centralia.;)

I was really more mad at myself for making an assumption it would be open earlier than 10am and not checking but I was surprised at how busy downtown was at that hour, difficult to find a free parking spot to hang for 20 minutes.
