We drove up to the summit of Pike’s Peak this morning. I managed to talk my way past the top, which is usually reserved for handicapped travelers and people with kids in booster seats.

We’re staying in Omaha tonight and continuing the journey home tomorrow.

must have been an interesting power consumption graph -- a huge spike up followed by a big green valley. I assume the two dont cancel out e.g. the regen down doesnt replaces all the lift energy up, netting the same energy as if you traveled same distance on the flats. It just can't be that efficient

It was just under 1,000 Wh/mi going up. Here is the picture of the trip down. I think we started the trip up at 70%, made it to the top at 45% and arrived back at the bottom with 56%.

My Insight Hybrid was that efficient, but then it still had the energy of the gas engine coming in.

Battery isn't too large in that vehicle, but going to Santa Cruz I would enter the hill on 17 at 100% and almost hit zero by the top and then going back down the other side be back to 100% before it leveled off. The other trick was it seems to auto-scale the battery gauge on that vehicle, it would hit 100% but it would continue to show regen happening. How can this be? The battery is full. Eventually, it would stop taking more energy and the brakes would require pressing farther to actually touch the rotors. Or going up a hill it would show the battery empty, but if you stomp the gas it squeezes a bit more out. Guess they are trying to keep users within the 20%-80% range to extend battery life.

Still better than the Guess-O-meter on my wife's Mitsubishi iMiev, no idea what's going on with that car's battery ever.

Up and down is remarkably efficient at recapturing potential energy so long as you don't need to brake much on the descent.

As to long distance nav mapping, I've noticed a tendency to map very long, often impossible legs. I try to be aware of what's available along the way for backup and was happy to see that nav remapped to the intermediate supercharger after it became clear I couldn't make it. It did stand at essentially (based on my calculations, not the car's) a -17% arrival SOC for a significant amount of time before it assigned the closer supercharger, though.

Made a bit of headway today, at least three Superchargers denoted having reduced or indoor charging capacity. **
YMMV

Dows, IA
Saint Louis Park, MN ** (Two other cars charging)
Fargo, ND ** (One other car charging)
Jamestown, ND
Bismarck, ND

I had visited Albert Lea, MN at end of May. Something has happened to the gate at the charging equipment prior to my visit today, because the gate door is laying on the ground, and stall 2B is inoperable.

Saw a couple examples of surrounding enclosures down around charging equipment on our last trip. One, at least, seemed to be the result of wind/storm damage. Your mention of Albert Lea reminds me that we had a large container full of iced tea stolen from beside the car as we slept there, so there are some unsavory elements that pass through on occasion, apparently.

Good to get out on the road finally. Alone at Prawda but met a bunch of other owners at the Polo Park charger in Winnipeg.
