Safe travels! I hope the trip goes smoothly for you. We stayed in Irvine last night and will be hitting the road to Las Vegas in a bit. Not staying there - just passing through.

I slowed down to make it! First leg was 251 miles nonstop in 3:45. 85.8 kWh, 337 rated miles, 341 Wh/mi. 92% SOC used (100-8%).

New map is out. Looks like this game will NOT be slowing down, I may never get off the West Coast as busy as 2021 looks:

That's like doubling the number of chargers in SoCal this year. Really looking forward to the new Coalinga charger. That seems to be the halfway mark for me going there, just one stop on the drive would be nice. Now I always stop at Kettleman due to the v3 (and the café). So that means a stop at Dublin on the way home. I haven't tried Kettleman -> Patterson yet, just 10 min at each stop, might be good.

Some of those are scheduled for 2022; some are leftovers from 2020. Remember, the map is "aspirational".

We caught up with my aunt and uncle at the Hesperia Supercharger. They live in San Diego and picked up a Model Y just after Christmas. We caravanned from there to Primm, where they split off to go explore the desert while we explored Las Vegas.

Yeah I just saw a video of two tornadoes yesterday near I-5 just south of Red Bluff. I believe you took 99 though so you would have been at least a few miles away. Very unusual for that area.

This morning, we spent about an hour at the Hoover Dam. The last time I’d visited was back in 2001, before the existence of the I-11 bridge and when you actually used the dam to get from Nevada to Arizona. Now it’s isolated, with an entrance on the Nevada side, a security checkpoint and a turn-around / dead end on the Arizona side.

We caught a spectacular sunset and even pulled off the road in New Mexico for some great stargazing.
