More Info: Supercharging.Life database

This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

See Supercharging.Life database for info on how to post your own visits to the database (preferred), or post your locations with date visited to this thread and one of the admins will update your list for you. All visits must be posted to this thread - not just entered in supercharging.life. If you are the first in the game to visit a supercharger location, please post to the thread as soon as you can so others know it has been visited.

FYI some of us looked at the list in our Tesla accounts and noticed missing supercharger visits, so don't assume your list is comprehensive. You may want to try jogging your memory by looking through pics on your phone or in some other manner to be sure all your stops are counted.

Tesla Unveils Supercharging Route Along China’s Famed Silk Road

Who's going to be the first to do this? (Ignore the apparent link title - it really does go to an article about Tesla.)

That's about right. Did you write the Plain Language Act?

When I was a senior in college, one of our accounting professors was good friends with a cinema school professor. They hatched a plan for the students to explain and share their respective subjects to the others. They stressed that future directors, editors, screenwriters, producers, and other Hollywood types knew zero about accounting and business while we accounting students knew nothing about making movies. Our respective responsibilities were to avoid acronyms and jargon unless we defined them first with examples. While we didn't dumb the material down, we had to be careful with what we said and how we said it so that it was generally understood.

This was a conversational approach and not a lecture approach. No tests or written assignments, either.

I believe this was a lesson to impress upon us that when we went out into the world to do our jobs, we would be working with a lot of different people with varying degrees of knowledge and experience.

I think it really hit home with me. As Will Rogers once said, "Everyone is ignorant; only in different subjects." :) 🍺

So I'm contemplating a familiy road trip that would go in this area...basically Bay Area up US-101 to log charges in Eureka and Crescent City (and then other points north).

Your "road work / one lane sections" comment gives me a bit of pause, particularly if I look up US-101 on roads.dot.ca.gov:

WILL BE CLOSED INTERMITTENLTY FROM 12.4 MI SOUTH OF CRESCENT CITY /AT VISTA POINT/ TO 1.9 MI SOUTH OF CRESCENT CITY /AT HUMBOLDT RD/ (DEL NORTE CO) FROM 0900 HRS TO 1100 HRS, FROM 1200 HRS TO 1400 HRS & FROM 1500 HRS TO 1700 HRS MONDAY THRU FRIDAY - DUE TO A ROCKSLIDE - TRAFFIC WILL BE ALLOWED THRU FROM 1100 HRS TO 1200 HRS & FROM 1400 TO 1500 HRS - MOTORISTS ARE SUBJECT TO DELAYS OF UP TO 2 HOURS

Any advice / suggestions?

Thanks!

Bruce.

Bruce,

The obvious solution would be to time your drive through during the brief periods that the highway is open to traffic.

Failing that, you'd have to head east on SR299 from Arcata to Weaverville, and then north on SR3 to Yreka. (Or in the alternative, head north at Willow Creek on SR96 to just north of Yreka. You'd probably have to backtrack about 8 miles to the new Yreka SC, as you likely would not have enough juice to make Medford.)

Both routes are beautiful drives through the coast range. SR 96 also parallels the Klamath River for about 100 miles. Watch out for Bigfoot if you go.

I would suggest taking SR36 from Fortuna to Red Bluff, but that highway is still a mess with construction and fire clean up. It is a damn fine drive, though!

Then, at Grants Pass head SW on US199 to Crescent City, or continue on your way to Bandon via Coquille and the Oregon Coast.

Regardless, I suggest that you download the CalTrans QuickApp to your phone and keep your eye on the highways you contemplate using. There is a wealth of information on that app.

It is possible that much of this work will be completed by August 1, so perhaps postponing your jaunt until August might result in fewer closures and delays.

Thanks for the advice, that's helpful. (Thanks also to @Randy Spencer for an earlier reply!)

I'm gonna go play around with a trip planner and see how the timing works out. I'm thinking the fallback plan is to leave Eureka and Crescent City for another trip and just do I-5...our real goal for the day is to get to Eugene/Springfield. (This is all a family road trip, not solely for Supercharger visits, so there are some competing objectives at work.)

Bruce.

That is a good shoutout. We did an evening Segway tour in Pittsburgh and it has several 80 amp Tesla chargers. Heck, I had to lower my amps so they wouldn't finish before we ended the tour (90%). This was super handy so I didn't have to visit a supercharger the next day. $5 after 4pm for parking.

792 W General Robinson St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
@scottf200, did you happen to hit any of the area superchargers while you were here though? It looks like you are missing Pittsburgh and nearby Franklin Park and Cranberry and then just a bit out of town for the Somerset ones and Washington.

Great job charging while taking a Segway tour.
